The Charity/Special Events Thread #4: Because He's Always Willing To Support A Good Cause

Welcome to the Taylor Charity/Special Events thread: Because he's charitable and spontaneous, you never know where he might show up

-In January 2008 Taylor, and avid hockey fan, participated in Luc Robitaille's Celebrity Shoot Out, a celebrity hockey game that raised money and awareness for the children's charity Echoes of Hope.

-In September 2007 Talor took part in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon, which benefits Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Taylor is out to support fitness activities for kids.

-In 2008 Taylor took a trip to Africa with Friday Night Lights co-star, Connie Britton, and toured Uganda and Kenya and become more aware of a charity called the African Children's Choir.

MH: You've been doing commendable work yourself. Tell us about your charity work for children.

TK: I went into the Children's Hospital in L.A. a little over a year ago and it changed me. Ever since then I've been working with the hospital whenever I can. The Nautica Malibu Triathlon this year was great, just being around the kids and fitness. The kids had a little race and I handed out medals to them. So they're super excited already and then when they come to the finish line and see the medal, they just freeze. Just seeing their faces and talking to them, you get their sense of energy and life. It's a great feeling. I think I get more out of it than they do.

"Unfortunately, there’s a stereotype toward these kinds of things, and how dire it is over there. [You think] you can’t really help. I’ve been a huge advocate of these guys ever since [my first visit] because you really do see that you can make a difference. I’ve been a huge advocate for them and what they stand for and how they run their organization. I love kids, and the energy these kids have is unlike anything else. They’re so open and so free when you meet them, even through these circumstances. There’s a four-minute video I did on YouTube of what the African Children Choir does… Obviously it’s really dire, but it goes back to how happy these kids were to be able to go to school, be able to eat every day, be able to have the transportation to get to school."

I'm going to bring this over, because it's my favorite...and information on both the upcoming hockey event he's doing and ACChoir event in December.

I'm boycotting this thread in support of the beard. I'm hoping he's rocking one somewhere on his motorcycle right now.

Not THAT full but we haven't seen him in two weeks. I hope he's thrown the razor away.

As much as I hate it, that's a likely possibility. He goes pretty low key maintenance when he can.
I guess we'll see when he does the hockey game.

Based on the photos from yesterday, there's an acceptable amount of scruff.

It's not too bad, yet.

Spirit, which I generally refuse to fly with, has a $77 flight down to Austin for the ACChoir weekend...

But then they add so many fees. It will be around $200 when all is said and done.

worthyoflove 10-20-2019 06:01 PM

Yeah it's been a long time since I've flown Spirit but I know they tag on a bunch of fees, but actually the same flight via Delta is just $177, still not bad.
