A 15 year-old freshman. She plays the French horn in the band. Amy is pregnant by Ricky after a one-night stand with him at band camp. She dated Ben, and married him in the episode, " The Secret Wedding of the American Teenager". However, because the two married using fake IDs, the marriage was not legal and thus Amy retains both her single status and her maiden name. A promiscuous sophomore. He was sexually abused by his father as a child and is now in foster care. He is the drummer in the school band. He's Adrian's ex-boyfriend and is currently dating Grace, although he continues to sleep with Adrian behind Grace's back. He sees a therapist - Dr. Ken Fields - to deal with his issues. Ricky: Yeah why should they? Why can't you? Why can't you and me do it? It's not like they're gonna kick you out of the house or anything, is it? You still have a place to live, food to eat.

And I don't even know if you really care about this baby or if you're just trying to impress Grace or Adrian or someone else. I don't think you even know how you feel about this child or if you really feel anything at all but I do and uh, if you think you love this child and you too want the best for him, let me do this my way. Don't you want what's best for your son, Ricky? Look, in my desperation to figure this whole thing out, I asked you to come over tonight just to see if there was any possibility of the two of us raising this baby together, helping each other out just for the sake of the baby. I realize that there are a lot of different types of families and we don't have to be married to be a family for this child, we could just be friends, do this together as friends, but uh, we're not friends and it's just not what's best for him, you and me, and you know that. And, I fully accept responsibility for letting things get too far with you on that one night at band camp. And I also fully accept responsibility of making all these decisions. Even if you find the perfect couple, I don't know how you're gonna do it, how I'm gonna do it: hold the baby with his tiny little hands and feet, completely helpless and then just hand him over to someone else. You know even though we can still see our son they're going to be the parents. They just want to make sure you and I understand that, I think.

Ricky: Well what if they get divorced?
Amy: They've been together for ten years.

Amy: Are you having second thoughts?
Ricky: No, I just...Amy I look at you and I just...after everything you've been through I want this adoption to be perfect. I don't want you to be hurt anymore than I've hurt you all ready.
Amy: Unfortunately I think we're in for a lifetime of hurt. That's just gonna be how it is.
Ricky: Yeah well hopefully you and I can be friends for a lifetime. Cause I don't think anyone else can really understand what we're going through. I'll see you tonight. Should I dress up or anything, I feel like I'm going on a job interview.
Amy: No, you don't have to dress up, just be yourself.

The Band Geek Support

Fans play an important role whether it's for film, music, or television. In fact I would say it's one of the most important roles because without fans then there would be no show- no characters to enjoy. And without a show people would be out of the job. Lifeless. Lucky for us, on July 1, 2008 we were greeted to Ricky Underwood and Amy Juergens of 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager'. And what a following they have managed to create. At least in our neck of the woods. I could go on about how great Ricky and Amy are but I figure I'll let them tell you themselves:

I like them because they have a lot of chemistry and a lot of potential to become a really great couple. I love how they are around each other. They act like they hate each other, but deep down they really don't.. I love how Ricky wants to be involved with the baby and hopefully Amy will let him be involved. Did I mention the chemistry? That is number one.. I instantly fell for them.-RAMYfan23

What hooked me to them was their chemistry. It seems like they are trying to force themselves to be with other people because they dont want to admit they care about each other and want to be with each other. Now that Amy is "married" to Ben, I think she will see it was a mistake. Because deep down inside, she is going to see Ricky is the one.-crunchydictator

Since day one I've always thought that they were meant to be together. I could just tell that by the way she looked at him that she really liked him, even if she denies it. In their scenes, they just have that chemistry that even if their bickering, they still give off that vibe that somethings there and it grabs your attention and makes you want to see more. They don't even have to be romantic with each other to know that they have chemistry.-Brunette17

I was first drawn to them by their chemistry and they way they interact with each other. There was definitely something there between them whether or not either one wanted to admit it. I think what they have is much more real than what Amy has with Ben or Ricky has with Adrian or Grace. They have the potential to become so amazing as they both have something to offer each other.-heaven85

I'm not going to lie, at first I was torn between, Amy/Ben, Grace/Ricky and Amy/Ricky. It took me forever to decide which couple would be my main ship. I choose Amy and Ricky. I like Amy and Ricky because they will always be connected, rather they like it or not through the baby. Ricky was Amy's first and although it wasn't great, you will never forget your first time. Amy and Ricky proved that very well. They're having a baby together. I truly think everyone around them, Ben, Adrian, and Grace are very jealous of Amy & Ricky's connection. I think Ricky is going to change because of the baby, he will become a better man with Amy and the baby. I think Amy and Ricky are soulmates. They have a chemistry that cannot be denied.-mclover_23

Well, at first, I never really thought of them as a couple mostly because of the way they acted toward eachother. Then as the show went on, there were more sides to both Ricky and Amy. You could see that Ricky truly wanted to be there for the baby and Amy, too. They are connected to eachother in a way that's different from any other couple I've shipped. They were never in love and had never been friends or actually even known eachother. But as Amy continues to grow, so does their relationship and undeniable chemistry.-xXEmmaXx

I shipped Ricky and Amy together since day one for the simple reason that there is something there between them, something subtle and hidden perhaps, but there nonetheless. There is more between them than we've seen so far, something I don't think they've really discovered yet, but it's there. Ricky is himself around her, he doesn't tell her stories or lie to her; he is just himself. Amy allowed him close enough to really hurt her, and just by that act, you know she felt something real for him. She's kept him at a distance because she doesn't want to be hurt by him again but I have a feeling she will let him back in. They both can only deny what's between them for so long before something brings their feelings to a head.-Augusta

I like Ricky and Amy because even though we've never seen them together as a couple, you can tell they care for each other. Amy defended Ricky when his dad came to town, and she believes in him. Ricky wants to help Amy with the baby, and the fact that Ben is in the picture hasn't defered him at all. I came to like Ricky and Amy by episode 7 when Ricky stepped up and said he wanted to be involved. From the first episode I always saw a glimmer of hope in Ricky so when he told Amy he wanted to be involved with his child, it showed progress towards the hope I had for him. From there I went back to previous episodes and realized just how much possibility there was for Ricky and Amy. Only true love progresses from beginning to end without skipping around in the middle and I truly believe these two have it. They have that cute elementary thing going on where they dance around each other and hate each other but you can see that in that hate there is also a deep passion. Only the best ones argue the way Ricky and Amy do, it's been witnessed time and time again (Lois & Clark-Superman, Michael & Maria- Roswell, Jamie & Landon- A Walk to Remember, Grace & Luke- Joan of Arcadia), I could go on... There is deep chemistry there and it's so obvious, it's just not obvious to them...yet!-R2Roswell
