Ole! Ole! Ole! Americano Movie Discussion/Moon & Stars #4

Summary

Joshua Jackson, Dennis Hopper and Leonor Varela star in topline the indie feature "Americano," which is shooting in Pamplona, Spain.

The film, from rookie writer-director Kevin Noland, is set against the backdrop of the country's centuries-old Fiesta de San Fermin, better known as the running of the bulls at Pamplona. The shoot coincides with the nine-day festival, incorporating footage of the daily bull runs and nightly celebrations. Shooting also will segue to various small villages throughout Spain's region of Navarra and the Pyrenees mountains.

"Americano" centers around Chris McKinley (Jackson), a recent college graduate backpacking through Europe who savors his last three days of freedom before boarding the career fast track back in the United States. In Pamplona with two friends (Timm Sharp and Ruthanna Hopper), Chris meets an Australian thrill-seeker (Phil Barantini), a quintessential Spanish beauty (Varela) and an enigmatic provocateur (Dennis Hopper), all of whom encourage him to rethink his life. As the minutes and seconds until his departure tick away, Chris struggles with an age-old question: Should he follow the beaten path or risk it all on the road less traveled?

This resonates for me..."Can you see the Milkyway" "No" "look harder"
I love the metaphore of the stars...and how vast the universe is...including their universe's and how different they are...

In the presence of certain people, I feel generous or envious or lust and in the presence of nature I feel at peace...

You can see his wheels starting to turn here, wondering where he should go, where he should be.

I think I'm most partial to the seduction scene - considering how tame it is compared to scenes in other movies, it still manages to make me almost uncomfortably hot. It's the kind of scene I'd probably want to watch by myself (unless, of course I happened to be with someone I'd like to seduce...)

Yeah, i agree about the seduction scene but I didn't want to be too obvious! ;) I also like it because it didn't have to have nudity or anything to make it romantic. The fact that both actors didn't overdo it and was slow and steady throughout was really hot.

All men should see this movie -- the tips they could glean from the love scene would make them very happy because, once put into practice, their significant others would then be very happy.

It's a win-win!

So true, Donna - this movie should be required viewing for all men... :D
