Is Adam Brody the Next Joshua Jackson?

Hi! I'm new to this forum but I have been coming to the joshjackson site for a long time and I'm a huge fan of everything Josh! What I'm wondering is, does anybody else out there think that Adam Brody's character Seth Cohen on The O.C. is quite similar to Pacey on DC? The first time I watched The O.C and heard all of Seth Cohen's witty comments it kinda reminded me of Josh in DC. I mean Seth is the geeky one though in the group and I wouldn't say that Pacey is, he's more of the rebel type for sure (tho Seth can be pretty rebelious if anyone out there has seen the O.C) but there's just something about those 2..kinda the underdog thing probably. I dunno, maybe's its just me... and also, does the O.C. seem really similar to Dawson's Creek except with rich characters and more guest stars and a more intricate/confusing plotline? I have to say I do adore the O.C., but then again, they had another show before them to lead the way and from which to learn the mistakes from and stuff, so they can really maximize the goodness. Anyway, I thought I would put that out there and btw, if you can't already tell, I'm abosolutely CRAZY about both Adam Brody and Joshua Jackson...oh before I sign off, they also both dated (and Adam is still dating) their girl interest co-star...ah I could go on, makes me insane thinking about the both of 'em. K, tell me what you think people.

PS. Adam Brody is soo hottttttt!!! Same for Josh!!!

Hi there
As much as I enjoy watching "The O.C." for the soapish cheese factor it is not on the same level as "Dawson's Creek" and the character Seth Cohen is a cheap imitation of a great character. Josh has a unique charisma and comedic timing whereas Adam is more a geeky funny guy type. Josh exudes sexiness and Adam is kinda awkward at the best of times.

I had to laugh when you said that "The O.C." has "rich characters", no offense but the only rich characters on that show are the people who have lots of money.
"Dawon's Creek" was a once in a lifetime kinda show, great actors that had tons of acting ability and who had chemistry with each other on screen. Everything about "The O.C." is a rip off of DC even the episode this week where they were trapped in a mall.
The only people that can act on that show are the people that play the adults, Adam and Rachel, the others are models that someone thought that since they were attractive that they must be able to act.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Adam Brody but he doesn't inspire me to sail off into the sunset with like Josh would.

I totally agree Canuckgal! "Dawson's Creek" is the type of show that touches the heart and soul of a person. I feel that "Dawson's Creek" was such an amazing show and so original. It gave its audience the opportunity to truly feel for the characters and captured these wonderful moments that I don't think any teen drama can ever compete with. And I think a lot of this is because of the unique ensemble cast who put forth such an incredible amount of effort to portray these characters who we, the audience, shared so many experiences with. And as far as Seth Cohen and Pacey Witter being similar, I'm going to have to disagree because Pacey Witter had SOOO much depth and I feel that Seth Cohen is a "cheap imitation". Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Adam Brody and find him very amusing, but it's a different kind of comedic timing. Like with Seth/Adam, I feel his comedy is forced, while Pacey/Josh is more natural. I also feel that Pacey's emotions ran so much deeper. You really saw inside his character and that is what was so great about Dawson's because a lot of teen characters now only run so deep. On the creek, you saw the whole spectrum.

I second that! And I could never see Seth saying "I remember everything" to Summer the same way Pacey did to Joey!

WORD! I adore The OC, but it's not like DC at all Dawson's Creek made me dream of something Pacey and Joey had... I always wanted a Pacey, but I'd never want a Seth, even though! He's cute, he's smart, good looking, but Josh just has something that makes me drool all over myself

wasn't there an episode where Seth said "I remember everything" to Summer. I wasn't really watching back then, but I thought I heard it somewhere. I agree that Seth is no Pacey. JJ put so many layers to Pacey. Seth just doesn't have so many layers and Pacey wasn't nearly as whiny. Even when he was sad and depressed, he couldn't even come close to as annoying Seth was over Summer

NO, he's not. Simple as that. There are no such things as "The next James Dean/Marlon Brando/everyothername" because everyone is unique and special. And Josh is just above that, he is very special.

I agree with Merica (yeah Josh is so above that ).

I don't watch The OC, I've only seen the first few episodes but when I see Adam Brody I really don't see Joshua Jackson. I think that they both have something that the other doesn't and that makes them unique.

I can answer this simply ...

Seth is the new David from 90210.

90210 and The OC have something in common - there guilty pleasures. I never considered DC a guilty pleasure ... hence, I think DC is on a whole other level then The OC, and Seth is very different from Pacey ... there 2 different people. Pacey is suave with the ladies, and scarcastic. Seth cannot shut up, is not smooth, and is a geek. Pacey was not a geek.

Not that I'm saying I don't like Seth ... I do. I just don't see the similarities.

Totally...

And the comparison with Josh, well I have only one thing to say:

NO WAY

I don't see Seth as Pacey at all. I've been watching The OC since it aired and it never once crossed my mind to compare those two character.

I can also say that as a huge David from 90210 fan that he and Seth are about as alike as night and day. Their characters don't have a thing in common.

Adam Brody doesn't remind me of Joshua Jackson or Brian Austin Green.

If there is anyone on TV that Adam Brody/Seth Cohen resemble, it is Eric Foreman/Topher Grace of That 70s Show. They have similar hand motions. The comic book/Star War thing and they both have girls that are a bit out of their league.

The OC lacks the heart of Dawson's Creek and the level of drama of 90210. To me, especially this season, it seems like more of a one-hour comedy than anything else. It has taken a serious dive for the worst, IMO.

The OC is kind of like Melrose Place ... if you think about it. You basically mock everything about the show.

DC had heart and was innocent, and thats why I never thought of it as a guilty pleasure.
