That was so cool. Thanks for that. Wish I could see the whole episode as I don't have the national geographic channel. Honestly, he sounds a natural at this and he should do more of these in the future. No idea if there is a demand for these type of documentaries, work wise.

JJH85 11-22-2016 07:31 PM

That's a nice little tease. It's going to be a great episode and the fact that Josh doesn't share an episode with any other celebrities, is pretty darn cool.

I'm no prude, but do we really need half naked bikini pics on the Josh board? Someone with no connection to him?

I looked at her IG, and there are lots of non half nude pics.

There's a video clip with this Tweet, but I haven't found how to post it. It's only 9 seconds long, but he looks great. Posting a couple screen caps though.

Thanks for posting the video, I hadn't gotten around to looking on YT for it.

Tracydeanne1 11-26-2016 08:06 AM

Has anyone found a download yet for Josh's episode of Years of Living Dangerously? I've been looking every day, it's not up yet on the sites I use. Please PM me if you have a suggestion. Thank you!

Great videos - can't wait to see it.

I managed to series link this show so will not miss any of it. I really enjoyed the first episode which I watched this morning. It is so frustrating that an up and coming country like India has more politicians that care about the environment and are trying to do something by using Solar panels while a country like the US is closing down the solar panel manufacturing businesses because it doesn't suit the utility companies. All US citizens should lobby their politicians to make Solar panels more available - especially in the states that have a lot of sunshine like Florida and Nevada.

I don't think it's necessarily that politicians in emerging countries care more. It's a different perspective for a developed nation trying to shift course from decades of economic and societal dependence on fossil fuels, to an emerging economy nation that is able to implement clean technologies while their country's economy is still young and developing. We need to make sure we don't repeat mistakes of the past in emerging economies, that's why so much international financial support is being given to emerging economies, like India, for greener options.

Developed nations like the US, and us here in Canada struggle with the shift, no question. It's change on a massive scale, politically, financially, and on a societal level. We need leadership that will push the limits, in govt, industry, and community to make it happen.

My province just installed Canadas first tidal turbine, which is a huge turbine under the ocean that harnesses the energy of the tides. Will be interesting to see what happens, its working now, but it's not the first time they've tried. The ocean has always destroyed them in the past. Tides are powerful.

All of the episodes are avail out there in cyber land to download, it's just Josh's episode isn't up yet. Boo!

LWS53 11-26-2016 01:58 PM

Our government are pushing for fracking. The local councils and most of the people are against it but have been overridden by the National government. There were a lot of incentives for solar panels but they aren't really viable unless your house is facing a certain way, but in southern Europe they are in use in most of the countries. We have a lot of Wind Turbines on our hills and moorlands which seem to be working ok, and a lot of them off-shore too. One thing we have a lot of is wind and rain.

I hope every government worldwide gets behind the research and investment for sustainable power, and big business. There is no reason that the big companies that produce and burn coal, gas and Nuclear couldn't invest some of their colossal profits in research and development in cleaner energy, after all they want profits and I am sure they could make it work and make profits if they all put their resources into discovering better ways of producing energy, instead of into lobbying against it.

I am so pleased that Josh cares enough to make these sort of shows and try to use cleaner alternatives himself, ie the car that ran on hydrogen and the water it produced was so clean they could drink it. Lets hope more of this sort of vehicle could be mass produced economically for the general public to enjoy.

There was also the Nissan Leaf ad in Fringe.:D

Tracydeanne1 11-26-2016 02:52 PM

Yes, fracking is on the table and is controversial here too. We also have a lot of wind power
in our province too, and will slowly be phasing out the last of the coal mines. And hopefully the tidal energy works out.

Oil and gas industry here does invest in green research and support some clean initiatives, but as long as we are dependent on fossil fuels, greener technologies will be slow entering the mainstream. I don't think that "world changing clean energy technogy" is here yet. But even oil and gas execs can see that the world is trying to move away from fossil fuels, however slowly that may be. If they don't eventually change their business model, they'll be extinct. Maybe it will be in 30 years, but it will happen.

Anyway, I'll keep looking for the episode, hopefully I find it soon!

I worked for the Company that partnered with this, so I was privy to all of the initial plans and testing associated with the tidal turbine. I saw the damage done to our equipment by the oceans during the testing process. It has taken years to finally get to this launch underway and I couldn't help but feel some pride in watching the video where they finally launched it. And of course we can't forget Nova Scotia's Annapolis Tidal Power Plant which was the first of its kind when it was built a few decades ago (1984) and is the only Tidal Power Plant in North America. I remember International companies coming over to take tours of the Plant in hopes of building their own. I don't know how many Tidal Power Plants there are in the World today or if anyone went so far as to build them.

I think between Wind Power and Tidal Power we are heading in the right direction, we just didn't start soon enough and now it's become dire.

In case anyone is interested in a little video about Tidal Power. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6cDtXTMs9Y

Oh wow, exciting project!

I hope we are...I think our province (and country) needs to be better at tooting it's own horn on these things. I had no idea until I saw it on the news being lowered into the water.

Part of the reason we likely don't blow our own whistle is because we have the Strongest Tides in the World and it's hard to top Mother Nature in that one, other Country's can't compete with her :D

Was finally able to download Years this evening. I know I've said this before, but he really should do more documentary/investigative type programs. Very good host. And has the perfect voice for narration work.

I didn't know anything about coral bleaching, learned something new. It's a great documentary.

Awesome, I'm going to wait until it airs here, but then I'm going to want it online so I can do some screencaps.

Sorry, not meaning to diminishing the value of the documentary, actually really hoping to see it one day, but this is such a sincere expression from the lady at the market:
