Yes. We know that Cole never remarry. He never got over Alison. He was obsessed with Ben. Cole knew in his heart that Ben killed Alison so he kept tabs on Ben. Cole died of a heart attack. He was alone when he died. Joannie feel guilty over leaving her father.

The Affair sounds even more miserable for the characters in season 5 than in the other seasons. Each season has got more miserable for them as time goes on!

Also mentioned, Cole and Joanie moved to Vermont (where Cole ran a horse ranch) shortly after the events of Season 4.

The sad thing is they really changed Cole's character. Remember his reaction to Noah when they were all at the ranch? (the scene with the gun?) I think he would have been more proactive in his dealings with Ben.

Cole was the guy who lost a son and then had his wife taken from him by another man to the guy who was a father again, so maybe he just had too much responsibility for Joanie to go off on Ben.
