Sookie is the single most boring, uninteresting character on the show. She's played as being as dumb as a post. She's self-righteous and often self-centered. Incredibly self-righteous. I'm so sick of her angry outbursts. I can't for the life of me see what Bill and Eric find so interesting about her. And that's another thing -Bill, Eric, Sam and Alcide all have a thing for her. Why? If it's not her telepathy or fairy blood then she's got nothing going for her, because she's a very boring jane shmoe. All these guys being fixated on her is classic Mary Sue stuff and it's annoying. The show would be greatly improved if she was killed off. The focus on her is a drag. And this fairy stuff is such total bull. It was a stupid idea to introduce fairies into the setting and the show doesn't do it remotely convincingly. And even the writers seem to realize it's lame, judging by how they had Sookie say so as soon as she found out. Sookie was pretty damn annoying in the books too -always telling the reader how great she was. The character is a major weight around the show's neck.

You'd think there'd be at least somebody on this board fed up of Sookie.

Jason is even dumber than Sookie yet he's entertaining. Sookie is a failure of a character and at least some of that must be rooted in her design as Charlaine Harris's Mary Sue. I know Anna Paquin can be other than annoying in a role. She's was pretty good in the X-Men films. But with Sookie she's been handed a character just waiting to annoy the audience. I contrast Sookie with Elena Gilbert over on Vampire Diaries. VD is a far less intelligent show than TB and Nina Dobrev plays Elena far less forcefully than Anna plays Sookie, but Elena is far more relatable and likable and doesn't have the same annoying quality. She has some Mary Sue traits of her own and but it's not done so painfully. And they didn't make Elena a fairy, which was a relief.

One of the things that bugs me about Sookie is that she's played as a caricature, specifically as a caricature of a dumb Southern blonde. As a caricature she's less of a real person. That makes her harder to take seriously, relate to or respect. It's a key to why she's so annoying, though her self-righteousness and Mary Sue status are also factors there.

So true and boy I hate even putting with some of the traits with Buffy, well lets face it folks Buffy will be 1,000 times better written character than Sookie Stackhouse will ever be I only say she has similar traits to Buffy with her falling in love with the bad boy vampires but that's it. At least with Buffy she could fight and be respectable and relatable. Not Sookie it seems. Its sad to if possible written better Ms Stockhouse could haver been tolerable but a lass no.

I'm a big fan of Buffy and Sookie doesn't measure up at all. With Buffy we had somebody of substance. Sookie's a self-centered little twerp.

Tell me about it, seriously even Buffy would slap the crap out of fairy Sookie. Heck she acts like every single thing Buffy was meant to break the sterotype of the screaming blonde running away from the boogieman what is Sookie only doing it seems but screaming her head off and running away from the boogiemen. It seems as much as some people don't like Tara, it seems like she the more rounded developed character than Sookie Stackhouse.

Yeah, Tara's a better character than Sookie, though the writers have done their best to screw her up. Sookie's not as wimpy as all that, but she's no Buffy. But it's not her level of toughness (or lack thereof) that annoys me, it's her stupidity, her self-righteousness, her self-centredness and the way every guy on the show except Lafayette seems to be fixated on her. And fairies suck. I wish the show would stop focusing on her. Maybe some vamp can suck her dry and Bill and Eric can have a revenge quest and then the story can move onto the other characters.

I know the most likable characters that I've liked that really hate Sookie are Pam and Russell. They both funny as hell and they had enough of fairy princess and you know what I couldn't have agree with them more.

Totally she is crack to Bill and Eric or any vampire with an obession to go out into the sun and thing is its not even long lasting. Seriously, if she wasn't so whinny and high dumb bitch that she is I might like her but still Sookie is crack. Sure Buffy was obession for two vampires with souls however; she wasn't crack to them like Sookie is. Both of them can get on with their undead lives without her and not go crazy unlike the vamp crackheads here in True Blood. Screw fairy and get on with your undead life.

Indeed. My feelings towards Sookie are perfectly voiced by Pam in the last episode of season 4. Actually, the first thing that went through my mind when I first watched the show was 'what kind of a ridiculous name is that'.
I think it's really strange that almost every other character on the show is better than Sookie. Especially Sam and Tara are WAY better characters. I really don't get the fuss Bill and Eric make over Sookie, because there's really nothing to her. She's dumb, she's selfish, and to top it all off she's a fairy. I mean, they were going to kill themselves over her. Just the thought that we almost lost Eric because of her pisses me off. Dying over a dumb, selfish fairy, yeah right.
I think the show would be way better off if Sookie got killed and the whole story focused on something new. Eric, for example(A).
