I will have to find the early Elementary seasons which must be on box set somewhere on my tv, just to set the scenes for the John Noble episodes.

According to IMDB, although Sherlock's father figures in the premise, this upcoming episode is the first time he appears. (I don't actually watch Elementary—I just happened to spot John in a trailer for the next episode.)

Elementary is one of my favs. Sherlock's father is a prominent presence throughout the series, but this season's premiere is the first time we get to see him. John is doing a knockout job. The character makes Walternate seem mellow.
