Hmm, maybe

I know he did say S3 of Mindhunter was draining to complete, the season actually had been written but he didn’t like it and completely rewrote the season and was on set most of the time to make sure it was good enough and something else that is rumor at this point was the actors contracts were up and they had to renew them and supposedly Netflix wanted to pay them as little as possible

I'm willing to wait a bit. I just hope S3 is better than S2. There were things about S2 that I liked, but I think they went overboard on the personal stories and glossed over the actual cases.

I agree, I didn’t care for the side plots either. Especially Bill and his situation at home.

I loved the show more when it focused on the actual serial killer interviews, the Wayne Williams arc was great but I couldn’t care less what happens in their personal life especially if we only get 9-10 episodes

I like a little bit of personal story. I've seen some shows that do a nice job by bookending the main plot of each episode with some personal stuff - like a couple of minutes at the beginning and a short follow-up at the end, sometimes with a bit of it scattered through the middle. Probably not more than 5-7 minutes total show time involved in personal stuff. That works well for me because it shows the people do have personal lives and it serves to show how their personal issues may sometimes affect how they do their jobs. But for me, the majority of episodes should center on cases or whatever the central theme of the show is. Otherwise, if it's too much personal stuff then it's just a soap opera.
