All of that is possible, and it's certainly possible that "The Final Lap" could focus on a geriatric version of the cast - or even end with Smokey launching his car into the Grand Canyon a la Thelma and Louise.

Interesting to note that "Superman vs. Batman 2" and "Mask vs. Joker" would not exist in the altered alternate universe timeline, because somehow, someway, Peter's Wave Synch Device erased Batman and replaced him with MANTIS (who does co-exist with Batman 'over here').

And if there's no Batman, there's no Joker.

*Please note that in the article it is the New York News, while in the television series, it is the New York Post.

*Also note that this article was posted before the writers decided to kill alternate William Bell off at a young age, replacing Massive Dynamic with Bishop Dynamic in the alternate universe.

*'Manhatan' is still spelled with two ts.

*Scarlett Johansson is also a star in the alternate universe.

*Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) still exists.

That S3 Fauxlivia was such a sneak.

Polar bears apparently mutated in the alternate universe.

Initiate Phase Two

Cancer does not exist in the alternate universe.

Neoplasia is used for limb regeneration 'over there'.

Ropetuned 07-24-2020 04:58 PM

All that computer use from Altlivia reminds me of the hatch from lost

FoxPhile 07-25-2020 04:16 PM

Curious that Altlivia would find it important to report on polar bears. Also curious to know just how they mutated.

Probably because what they mutated into 'over there' wasn't nice.

Of course, the fact that they mutated over there doesn't mean they necessarily will in this universe.

Altlivia seemed surprised that they hadn't yet 'over here'.

FoxPhile 07-28-2020 03:24 PM

I suspect that just as we are surprised about so many things that are different "over there", Altlivia would be just as surprised about things that are different from her perspective "over here". Imagine her reaction to the President Nixon that we had. Or the Kennedy assassination(s).

Thomas Newton had briefed her about our universe when she came 'over here' to take Olivia's place, so she had an idea.

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) is investigating a Dead Dog Disturbance that is infecting German Shepherds and dealing with the smallpox epidemic. (There is no smallpox vaccine ('over there').

Princess Diana never died in a car crash on August 31, 1997 and lives to become Queen of England.

She obviously never divorced Prince Charles 'over there', who later became 'King Charles'. What happened to Queen Elizabeth?

Bubonic Plague is still an epidemic.

Sean Combs (Puff Daddy) is a writer instead of a rapper.

Limb Regeneration takes a giant leap forward at UCLA Medical Center (*Wouldn't exist if California had experienced 'The Big One').

The 'New' San Diego Zoo is creating a habitat for Smiley, the first genetically resurrected saber-toothed tiger.

Chunnel between Great Britain and Belgium.

In this universe, the Channel Tunnel was constructed between Great Britain and France and opened in 1994.

Megaseas' weekly luxury tours of the submerged Hawaiian island of Oahu.

James Dean dies in 2012 at the age of 81. James 'Jimmy' Dean gave up his movie career to become a rock star-in place of Elvis Presley.

In this universe, James Dean died in a car crash on September 30, 1955 at the age of 24.

Galatica announces hybrid powered rocket, front lined by 'environmentalist' Al Gore. (Looked like competition for Glatterflug's daily flights to the Moon).

Tucker Auto announces a new line of electric-fusion passenger cars.

In this universe, owner Preston Tucker was forced to shut down Tucker Auto in 1949 due to negative publicity surrounding a 1948 investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission, which charged Tucker with stock fraud. Tucker was ultimately found innocent of all charges, but by then the damage to his dreams of owning an automobile company was done.

DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) misplaces experimental invisibility cloak.

The Manhatan Music Hall welcomes Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead-in 2011.

Jerry Garcia died in this universe on August 9, 1995.

Gorenet: MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) scientists discover how to link the human brain to computers.

In 2011: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will accept the Elie Wiesel Humanitarian Award next month for his efforts in mediating peace between North and South Germany in 1995.

In this universe, Elie Wiesel (September 30, 1928 – July 2, 2016) was a Romanian-born American writer, professor, political activist, Nobel laureate, and Holocaust survivor.

In this universe, after the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II, Germany was divided between two global blocs, the Western Allies in the west and Soviets in the east.

Apparently, in the alternate universe the same thing occurred, only Germany was split into North and South instead. Since the Soviet Union was never dissolved, Germany was never reunited.

Fringe Episode 417: "Everything In Its Right Place" - Fringe417EverythingInItsRightPlace0001134 - Fringe Files

The Berlin Wall would still exist, horizontally instead of vertically, splitting Berlin into North and South, instead of West and East, as it did 'over here'.

Which side is a democracy and which side is communist?

This is the only article that conflicts with that of the television series.

In the TV series, there is a 'Martin Luther King/Eldridge Cleaver Memorial Park' in New York City on the site where Massive Dynamic exists 'over here'. Dr. King also appears on the $20 bill 'over there'.

Both are indicators that while he may never have been assassinated on April 4, 1968 'over there', he is no longer living either. Neither is Eldridge Cleaver. Cleaver died 'over here' on May 1, 1998.

Unless, 'memorial' has different meanings 'over there', and living persons can appear on American currency.

“Over There: Part One”

The teaming of MLK and Black Panther member at the time Eldridge Cleaver raises several interesting questions.

Was MLK more 'militant' in the alternate universe, or was Cleaver more 'moderate'?

How peaceful was their 1963 March on Washington with possibly Richard Nixon as president?

How did the "We Have a Dream" speech differ from the "I Have a Dream" speech?

A very subtle clue as to what may have happened to alternate MLK lies in his caricature on the $20 bill (Juinor).

Take a real close look at it. Look at his tie. It's thick and very 70s-ish. And very presidential.

If MLK had lived to be become the first person of color (Barack Obama would then have been the second-ish) to become president of the United States, it would have most likely been in November 1972. Probably a two-term president as JFK was, given the suggested presidential timeline "Fringe" provides:

President Nixon assassinated in Dallas, South Texas on November 22, 1963.

Fringe Episode 221: "Over There: Part 1" - Fringe221OverTherePart1-080 - Fringe Files
With also cracked Liberty Bell on back.
Fringe Episode 221: "Over There: Part 1" - Fringe221OverTherePart1-079 - Fringe Files

Could also explain the Nixon Parkway in New York City.

Vice President Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. becomes president.

JFK elected president in November 1964 Most likely two-terms, after losing to Richard Nixon in 1960).

Clue: RADIO NEWSCAST: The White House announced that President Obama has chosen former President John F. Kennedy to lead the government's new agency aimed at slowing ecological breakdown. President Kennedy plans to step down from his role as U.N. Ambassador... ("Olivia").

MLK elected president November 1972. (Most likely two-terms).

Ronald Reagan elected president November 1980. (Most likely for two-terms as well, like he did 'over here').

Clue: 1985 NEWSCAST: it's been six months since Peter Bishop disappeared, But authorities still have no ideas. The sympathy of the world goes out to Dr. Walter Bishop And his devoted wife, as the entire nation remains aghast at the kidnapping of their only son. Dr. Bishop, the architect of the famed Star Wars defense system that protects our nation, and his wife made an emot-- ("Subject 13").

*President Reagan only proposed the Star Wars defense system 'over here'. It was formally scrapped by President Bill Clinton in 1993 in this universe.
