I don't want it cookie cutter either, but I don't want them to be distant. It would be nice to see some family bonding. I want bbque's, hangouts, etc.

Something scandalous like the real reason the Wilsons adopted Dixon. Maybe one of the parents was somehow responsible (directly or indirectly) for Dixon's being an orphan. So then Dixon would have to be conflicted between hatred for that and love/gratitude for the Wilsons' taking him in.

Oh wow! That would be drama.
Well I think we heard he was tossed around from foster home to foster home, so maybe the were very close or maybe at one time foster parents. __________________
