I just couldn't get pass why a guy like Chase would choose to be with a woman like Alex over Mia in the end. Mia was clearly the better woman. She had personality and didn't make people want to rip their hair out.

It really doesn't. Mia has been there for Chase in ways that Alex hasn't. Alex appeared to be more of a hook up and the rebound chick after Mia broke his heart. I've also observed that Mia has more emotional maturity than Alex. Mia also impacted his life more, and wasn't taken as an easy lay.
