So, it's officially 10 years since I've discovered Kate's music... and I really must say, she has changed my life in many ways for the better.

Here's what I wrote in a message to her:

Kate, it's now been 10 years since I heard you for the first time... and in those 10 years, you've really blessed the world with a lot of great music! In this time, I've really come to appreciate your songwriting skills, pouring your emotion in your lyrics... and you've really inspired me as well. From that day, 10 years ago, when I first heard you sing "Only Fooling Myself"... and then the entire album "Don't Look Away", I knew you were someone special unlike anyone I'd ever heard before - a one of a kind talent. Not only this... but you have really motivated me to be myself and be happy with who I am, your music has really helped me through a lot of hard times in my life. Included in these motivations... is that I knew I had to see you in concert sometime... and it really helped me know that, if I want to do anything I want to, I really could put my mind to it and make it possible. Indeed, I made it happen, not once, not twice... but a total of six times so far, and I am sure that #7 will happen soon enough too! And every time, I come back knowing how much you and your music have meant to me during this time.

Throughout this time, I have been following your career very closely, always anticipating the next move, the next single, the next album, the next tour... and have loved every single minute of it. I'm very proud to say that you have definitely become my favourite singer ever. The past 10 years have been filled with great memories and I definitely have you to thank for making them as memorable as they have been, whether directly or indirectly, as knowing that your voice, lyrics and instrumentation have touched me like they have many others in this world.

Through an Internet radio station that I had been listening to - I was instantly in love when I first heard "Only Fooling Myself" on there, and I knew I had to hear more.

So I just found this out - not only did Tyler Hilton sing "Overtime" (which he and Kate wrote together - and I knew about that when it was released), but Kate has also written a song for Michelle Branch! Though allegedly, Kate is releasing her own version on her next project:

I haven't actually listened yet, but I feel Kate and Michelle have quite similar voices which would make a song like this a natural fit for either of them.

So cool that Kate is doing some writing for other artists as well!
