Gillian knew she could win Scott over with her good looks and passion for sex. But Kelsey Jefferson had her own plans for Scott. Kelsey and Liza Colby led Gillian to believe that Ryan was a millionaire to lure Gillian away from Scott. Kelsey did not think her plan was working fast enough, so she called immigration on Gillian. Gillian was in the states on a visitor’s visa. If she did not want to be deported, she needed to marry a man. Scott volunteered himself, but Gillian chose Ryan. But... Gillian found herself jealous over Ryan’s relationship with Hayley Vaughan. But, Gillian did not want to admit that she was growing very smitten with her new husband. Ryan did not want to admit it, but he too was beginning to like being married to Gillian. Ryan was accused of the rape of Kit Fisher Montgomery. He was surprised when Gillian decided to go on the run with him. They admitted their love for each other. Derek Frye arrived at the Crystal Ball to arrest Ryan. Hayley helped Gillian and Ryan escape the authorities. Just like Gillian's five second pregnancy, I don't remember that storyline either. I guess some storylines stayed with me stronger than others, cause over the years when I watched 90's episodes there were some storylines I literally have no recollection of lol.

Like the pregnancy story, it didn't last long. It's probably why. It was more of a plot point for the whole Colby storyline. Gillian just found out she was Adam's and was rushing to tell Jake, only to get in a car accident where she couldn't speak to tell him.
Gillian did reference that scene in her wedding vows to Ryan during their second wedding, saying the one thing she could remember was Ryan was 'heart.' There was also a strange scene where ghost Gillian channeled Laura later, and started speaking to Ryan in Hungarian "You are my heart." |
Oh, it was a plot point cause she found out Colby was Adam's (Another horrible storyline) I do remember she found out and didn't tell Jake (Like most of the town when they found out lol) but forgot about Gillian getting hurt in a car crash.

The writing has just gone to trash. The writing was better back in the day, especially the love stories. They were written realistically and had great payoff, that's one of the many reasons soaps don't have super couples anymore.

Today is the 23rd anniversary of their first wedding (4/10/98), and the 20th anniversary of their second (4/10/01). Oh wow, I can't believe it's been that long for both weddings! That's another thing I miss about old school soap writing, they had amazing wedding ceremonies and theirs was no exception.

Something new I learned was that they told Cameron before Esta that they were killing her off, and told him not to tell her anything. How awkward. And he said they kept her around as a ghost because the fans were so upset. He said it broke his heart that they killed her off and couldn't remember if she wanted to leave the show. He said he loves her dearly and wants to follow her on Instagram but can't find her anywhere. He was also confused as to why killed her off in such a way she couldn't come back. |
I didn't know they told CM before they told Esta. Uh, if your going to kill someone's character off you should tell the person that plays them. It would just be the one of many disrespectful things they would do to certain actors. From what I remember, she wanted to leave to do work in Africa and I guess they killed her off so DRASTICALLY cause they were pissed and wanted to get back at her for it. They did Gillian so wrong the way they killed her off.

It's so disgusting that they told Cameron first. It's also horrible that they killed her off in such a permanent way. I totally don't blame Esta for wanting to leave to try new things. Almost everyone in soaps takes a break at some point. Cameron even did for a year. Right before Esta left she came really close to getting a role as a Bond girl in one of Pierce Brosnan's Bond films. I think she wanted to try her hand in movies. Sadly that obviously didn't work out for her, which is another reason it sucks she could never come back as Gillian. Our only revenge is that none of Ryan's other pairings ever had the same spark or popularity he had with Gillian. Esta does have an Instagram but she NEVER posts. I only know it's definitely hers because her boyfriend/maybe ex-boyfriend who's very active on Instagram once tagged her in a picture using that account. I need this girl to get more active on social media so I can like know she's alive. |
Apparently Cam and Esta had a reunion recently? Not sure what brought this about, but pretty cool. Cameron said it was for a podcast in the comments? Hopefully we find out more in the future.
