‘Days of Our Lives’: Peter Reckell Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Bill Hayes

Following the passing of Days of Our Lives legend Bill Hayes on January 12, his co-star, Peter Reckell, has shared a heartfelt tribute video, noting, “I was very fortunate to share a small part of his amazing history.”

Reckell, who has played Bo Brady on the long-running daytime soap since 1983 (with a brief hiatus between 1992 and 1995), posted the touching video on his website, where he shared his experiences of working with Hayes on set.

“You ever have that feeling where you meet someone and just wanna be part of their family? Well, that’s the way it was with Mr. Bill Hayes for me,” he said. “He would just open up his heart and let you in, and you’d just wanna hang there in his warm embrace.”

“And I was a very fortunate person that I got to spend an awful lot of time with him,” he continued. “I mean, working together, there would be days where [there was] a lot of sit-around-and-wait, so I got a chance to share some special moments with him. I would just try to get him talking because he had some amazing stories, you know, about his family.”

Reckell recalled the stories of Hayes’ annual family gatherings, explaining, “He said he always had this huge, huge family get-together every summer in a place that I’d love to go because I grew up in Michigan.”

Hayes portrayed Doug Williams for 53 years on Days of Our Lives, with Reckell’s Bo being his son-in-law for many of those years.

Towards the end of his video, Reckell started to get choked up. “I get lost for words,” he said. “But he is gonna be missed. Condolences to that huge family of his and, of course, to Susan [Seaforth Hayes, his wife of 51 years] and to everybody who loved him.”

Rest in peace Bill Hayes.

Erika wasn't a Days of our Lives star, she played Viki on One Life to Live, but yeah, really sad, you could always tell she was super close with her daughter, she mentioned her a lot.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Cast Competes on ‘Weakest Link’ Special |

The cast of “Days of Our Lives” is headed to “Weakest Link,” and host Jane Lynch can’t help but get swept up in the drama.

In an exclusive video of the special shared with TheWrap, Lynch welcomes eight “Days of Our Lives” stars — including Lindsay Arnold, Bryan Dattilo, and Tina Huang — to go head-t0-head as they earn money for charity. As Lynch introduces the hopefuls, she goes all-out in embracing the soap opera’s dramatics.

“Tonight I’ve gathered together eight ‘Days of Our Lives’ stars to earn money for charity,” Lynch said in the clip before her voiceover interrupts her by questioning, “but is that really why I did it?”

“They’ll face challenging questions — like who’s the father of my unborn twin sister’s cousin’s aunt’s dog sitter?” Lynch continued in her voiceover. “And a chance to win up to $1 million,” she says, before her inner monologue cuts in saying, “I’d like to see these drama queens try.”

In addition to Arnold, Gering and Huang, “Days of Our Lives” cast members appearing on the special include Bryan Dattilo, Victoria Konefal, Martha Madison, Eric Martsolf and Zach Tinker.

The special will kick off the return of “Weakest Link,” which is set to air next on Tuesday, April 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and will stream the series next day on Peacock.

“Weakest Link” is produced by BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group, with Ryan O’Dowd serving as an executive producer by for BBC Studios.

Stuart Krasnow, who executive produced the original show’s run on NBC, serves as showrunner and EP for “Weakest Link” alongside Lynch and Aaron Solomon, who also executive produce the competition show.

I am curious to see them on that game show.

My bad for not posting this sooner:

‘Days of our Lives’ Temporarily Recasts Sloan: Natasha Hall Replaces Jessica Serfaty

Days of 0ur Lives will look a little different on the week of March 4-8 as Jessica Serfaty‘s Sloan Peterson will be temporarily replaced by The Kominsky Method actress Natasha Hall. As first reported by Soap Opera Digest, Hall will step in for Serfaty for three episodes. While a spokesperson for Days confirmed the news, a reason for the temporary recasting was not provided. Hall is best known for playing Yvette in three episodes of the Netflix comedy-drama series The Kominsky Method. Her other credits include NCIS: Los Angeles, S.W.A.T., Mom, The Thundermans, and Seal Team. She most recently appeared in an episode of the Max comedy series Bookie. On the big screen, Hall has appeared in the movies Game Night, 4/20, The Disappearance of Toby Blackwood, and A Little White Lie. Serfaty joined the long-running soap in August 2022, and her character has been involved in plenty of drama.

Days Of Our Lives sees THREE old faces from the 1980s RETURN - as two new stars are added and one actor replaced amid cast reshuffle

Days Of Our Lives will see three old faces from the 1980s return to the show, amid a series of dramatic changes to the cast.

Two new stars have been added to the long-running soap opera in roles that have currently not been disclosed to the public.

Meanwhile, one actor has decided to leave the show and pursue college as a full-time student, requiring his role to be recast.

But the three '80s stalwarts coming back to Salem are sure to delight the devoted fanbase that Days Of Our Lives has acquired over the decades.

All three of them were on the soap opera for years - and one of them even performed a hit song that became inextricably connected to the series.

returning to Days Of Our Lives in the near future.

During her original run on the program, she and Carl Anderson sang a duet called Friends And Lovers on the air - and the number became a runaway hit single.

As the show progressed, the song became the theme for Charles Shaughnessy and Patsy Pease's love interest characters Shane Donovan and Kimberly Brady.

Gloria, the ex-wife of Alan Thicke and the mother of Robin Thicke, will be returning to Days Of Our Lives for the first time 38 years.

Deidre Hall, who has been on Days Of Our Lives on-and-off since 1976, broke the news earlier this month on the YouTube series The Lacher Room.

Another returning player from the 1980s is Melissa Reeves, who will be going back to the part of Jennifer Horton, which she has played on and off for nearly four decades.

Her first run on the series lasted a decade from 1985 to 1995, and she has repeatedly reprised the role since, mostly recently in a guest capacity from 2021 to 2022.

Now Melissa is coming back for a Thanksgiving episode of the series that will serve as an in memoriam to her late co-star Bill Hayes.

Bill, who played the recurring character of Doug Williams from 1970 onwards, died in January at the age of 98 just months after his final appearance on the program.

Melissa confirmed to TV Insider last week that she would be going back to the role of Jennifer Horton in order to honor Bill in November.

'I heard about Bill, which was just devastating for all of us. I was like: "I wonder if they’re going to do tribute shows,"' she explained.

Matthew Ashford, who plays Jennifer's ex Jack Devereaux, asked her: '"Would you ever think about going back?" And I said: "Matt, I think about Days all the time."'

She noted the show was 'where I grew up and spent my life, really, from 18 until now. So it always has a place in my heart and it always will for me and for my family.'

The third face to reappear in Salem will be that of Stephen Schnetzer, who appeared from 1978 to 1980 as the bad boy Steve Olson.

Stephen confirmed his return on The Lacher Room last month but provided no details other than that he would be on 'a couple of episodes.'

He did not specify whether those episodes would involve the Bill Hayes memorial, inasmuch as their characters were brothers-in-law.

Amid the recent cast reshuffle on Days Of Our Lives, two completely new actors are being integrated into the world of the series.

Last week, the soap opera's official Instagram page announced the casting of Cherie Jimenez and Al Calderon, teasing: 'Hmmmm, who could they be?!?!'

Al was pictured in a crop top and Cherie in a clinging crimson cocktail dress as the pair clung to each other and smiled for their Days Of Our Lives publicity still.

Meanwhile the character of Tate Black, previously played by Jamie Martin Mann, is now being portrayed by Leo Howard as of April 5.

Jamie gave up the role in order to devote himself to completing his college education at the University of Michigan.

He came to the conclusion that 'traveling back and forth would’ve been a considerable impediment to [obtaining a] musical theater degree,' he explained.

'I also think it would not have been fair to the show and to my fellow castmates to be not dedicating the time required to [the job],' he added to Soap Opera Digest.

Dick Van Dyke Makes History After Scoring a Daytime Emmy Nomination for ‘Days of Our Lives’ at Age 98

Dick Van Dyke made history with his recent Daytime Emmy nomination.

Van Dyke, 98, became the oldest person to be nominated for the prestigious award on Friday, April 19. He was recognized for this guest star role on Days of Our Lives.

The actor made his soap opera debut in September 2023 as Timothy Robicheaux. He joined the cast for a special four-part arc with his real-life friend and gym buddy, Drake Hogestyn, who has been on Days off and on since 1986.

“I said, ‘Don’t you have any parts for old people? Come on give me one.’ And he took me seriously and got me a part!” Van Dyke told Access Hollywood in April 2023 about coaxing his pal to get him a role on the soap.

“I said, ‘Don’t you have any parts for old people? Come on give me one.’ And he took me seriously and got me a part!” Van Dyke told Access Hollywood in April 2023 about coaxing his pal to get him a role on the soap.

While preparing for the role, Van Dyke shared that he watched a bunch of Days episodes to get a feel for what the actors on the series have been doing over the years.

“Some of the people have been doing it for 20 years,” he recalled. “That’s all the homework I can do, watch one and see how they do it. The other thing, you have to hold, ‘duh duh,’ there’s this thing of music, and we’ve said something exciting.”

During Van Dyke’s stint on the show, it was revealed that his character was the long-lost father of Hogestyn’s character, John Black.

While Van Dyke is the oldest person to receive a Daytime Emmy nod, this isn’t his first time being up for the award. Van Dyke won in 1984 for Outstanding Performer in Children’s Programming for CBS Library: The Wrong Way Kid and in 2015 for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program thanks to his role in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Pirate Adventure.

Van Dyke has also earned five Primetime Emmy awards for his iconic sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show and his variety show Van Dyke and Company. He also has a Tony Award and a Grammy. That means the longtime icon needs just the Oscar to make him an EGOT recipient.

In December 2023, Van Dyke joked that he “has been lucky” when it comes to the projects he’s done throughout his career.
