 I love our geek titles.  Witaj is not really outdated but people use it rather to people they don't know or are not sure if they should say siema, hej, cześć (informal greetings) or the rather formal dzień dobry. Whenever I write to my academic teachers I greet them with Witam, it's neutral. __________________

I've never actually used witam to any of my teachers. I've always sticked to dzień dobry.
