@Carol regarding HH I totally agree. The possibility of Minky always made her petty and sulky. Although tbh, I knew the permanence of her Naomily boner was set in stone when JB gave himself the authority to magically declare the marriage of future!Naomily. :rolleyes:

Mostly I like Minky better than Naomily because Mini and Franky were given other plots and ways to develop instead of just endlessly wanking and crying over each other, but then again maybe that's why Minky was denied canon status. :shrug: I guess their luv isn't twu enough.

ikr? that's what gave them the potential to be one of my fav skins couples ever. they weren't just making googly eyes at each other from the pilot like a lot of predictable skins couples. they grew and developed in a realistic way i guess.
i thought that would develop even further in s6 but i guess not.

This 100%. I can't even. Minky is Mini/Franky always. Naomily turned into the Naomily entity, not Emily/Naomi. Imo. I like Naomily for what it was but Minky is my OTP because they exist outside of one another and when they come together they are better for it.

I completely agree with everything said about Naomily. Naomi and Emily never existed outside of each other. They had no plots outside of each other. I have no idea what Emily's interests and wishes were outside of Naomi. Naomi had her "activist" thing a little in S3 but that got dropped pretty quickly. And though they were cute in S3, their handling in S4 was absolutely terrible. 7 episodes of crying over each other, one quick "loved-you-since-twelve" speech and everything was OK. :rolleyes: I like them, but I think they are possibly the most ridiculously overhyped and overrated couples in history.

Minky are my Skins OTP, just ahead of Sid/Cassie.

Yeah, I actually saw a lot of Chris/Jal parallels in that they're the only two couples whose individual players had to go through a lot of growing pains first and understand themselves as individuals before they could handle a complex romantic relationship. With Chral and Minky, they weren't ~destined to be nor should they have been. Unfortunately, Skins tends to feed into the trope that romantic relationships exist either as an emotional or developmental crutch/substitute or as a source of ~challenges that's supposed to solve or create all your problems and thus be a barometer for self-worth and maturity. You can't expect some sort of codependant epic love to fall into your lap whenever things get tough. A big part of growing up is learning to stand on your own, and Chral and Minky exemplify that regardless of whether or not you ship them.

:nod: Again, I feel as though one of the most important signs of maturity in a relationship is realizing and respecting what you bring to the table as individuals, in addition to not letting yourself be or wanting to be absorbed by the other person's identty. Early bullying aside, Minky could have been a very positive relationship model, especially for teens.
