they just dont work together. i see both sides, but in the end both sides tell me the same thing: they weren't what either of them needed.

 i can't agree more. in s3 i didn't see the 'love' but in s4 i did. i know they were in love with each other and cared for eachother but they just couldn't work, ever. they tried, they failed.

I didn't even see love in s4. Well I got that they loved each other, but it didn't come across as epic or anything, it was just unhealthy and co-dependent.

i agree, most of it was unhealthy. i did see some moments of love though, i have to admit.

in s3 i saw nothing. so that was an improvement.

their story is not epic, they didn't overcome any problem together, everytime there was a problem, one or the other was ready to leave

:eyebrow: Okay then.

Your turn.

Mammary_Glands 06-06-2010 11:55 AM

freddie and effy pretty much had the worst relationship in Skins. and i mean fundamentally. everything was all wrong. circumstance, co-dependency, etc.

I saw that Freddie loved her in 405. They also managed to establish "love at first sight" is what they had during the park scene by blantantly saying, 'the moment i saw you' - which means you have to accept their ~fairytale~ love and real foundation isn't necessary. the way he cared for her and was so miserable at the end showed me he loved her, even if he went about stupidly. but anything i found redeeming about them (as a couple) in that episode was completely erased after 407.

ia.

people talk about how badly 407 was written and how out of character freddie was, but everything that i hated about him as a character in S3 was pretty much resurrected in that episode. all of the selfishness, that childish me me me attitude, and how he truly doesn't know effy at all.

also, on the subject of 405, i call bull**** on the fact that his mother killed herself and had a mental illness. i refuse to believe karen would have exploited her death as she did in 305 if that was planned all along.

honey__tree 06-06-2010 12:01 PM

enough freffy, title? starter?

no chey, it was ALL PLANNED FROM THE BEGINNING.

 For FE's relationship and storyline to even make sense you have to accept that they fell in love at first sight. Without it the entire thing just crumbles.

Completely agree. I saw Freddie's love, but never really Effy's. Nothing ever showed me that she was in love with him, and I think for her, it was more about who could take care of her. She chose him because he was safe. And in the end, he wasn't the safe choice, he didn't take care of her. Everything fell apart.

EDIT: I'll start. Title, please. :flowers:

idk, it's kind of insulting to all of his effort in 405 to say he didn't take care of her. he tried to for as long as he could. there was nothing anyone who wasn't professionally trained to help could do for her. A for effort, i guess.

bebrave 06-06-2010 12:09 PM

Yeah, he tried. He just wasn't strong enough.
