For those of you who aren't familiar with the Green Lantern comics (and since I'm the board's resident comic book geek, I'll clarify):

The original Green Lantern was Alan Scott, but was given a makeover during the Fifties by Julius Schwartz (who was then head of DC Comics) as Hal Jordan, and given a more sci-fi origin in order to capitalize on the trends of the day, and the Cold War.

Carol Ferris (who Blake is cast as) is the vice-president of Ferris Aircraft (mainly due to the fact that her father was mogul Carl Ferris). Hal Jordan (the character whom Ryan will be playing) is a test pilot for the company.

Carol is the love of Hal's life, and the only woman who can curb his playboy tendencies.

She also happens to double as the villainess Star Sapphire, a character who engages in an almost eternal struggle with Green Lantern; a struggle that could be interpreted as metaphor for relationship troubles, or battles between men and women, or whatever.

About DH and the trailer- it does come out tomorrow (at some places even today) in Germany. Thursdays are the movie days here. :) But I kinda doubt we'll get the GL trailer along with the movie. :look:

I don't think it will be released here on the British version either :pout:. But heck, I'm sure WB will upload it online as soon as Harry Potter is released.

I liked the preview, but I think there's still a lot to do. It's a good thing I'm not a comic fan expert; this way my expectations aren't too high.

Am I a weirdo for being a lil scared on how Blake, um, acts in the trailer? Seems more GG than, say...The Town.

I wonder what the big 'thing' will be that makes Carol change into the Star Sapphire in the later films. Or what the reasoning it was in the comics.

Not scared, Chaz. But I'm a little concerned. Either way we won't really find out until the movie opens. It's hard to make a judgment now because she was only on for literally 6 seconds...We don't really know the context of the scene...So I still have hope. But boooooy, she is getting lots of hate right now. :sigh:

It can be really hard though. As a Blake fan, it's hard to see and read some of those hateful comments.

I'd have to say that I'm a bit concerned too. Although, it's early days and as you stated Cristina, it was for only 6 seconds max, so not enough to judge on. I also agree that it can be hard to read the hate. It's so not needed.

as long as the movie is good..... hopefully she lands some non blockbuster movies.
this kind of blockbusters doesnt require much acting...lol or my nonexistent love 4 comicbook movies speaks..;) im sure she'll be good case. Martin's strong side is working with actors so im 100 confident 4 now. hope not to be proven wrong...

as 4 the hate ppl hate B with & without reason so they can gtfo...
