He's been fired, it's over, yet fans and CBS are keeping this petty fight over this issue. Both sides are pretty lame IMO - CBS handled the whole thing poorly and some fans are acting like little brats.
I agree. I miss Hotch and Thomas but I think the more this gets dragged out the worse the situation is becoming. I think everyone involved and the fans just need a little break, give things time to settle and then see what happens. Maybe we'll Hotch again, maybe we won't. It sucks. I want to see him again. But right now they need to do what they need to do. It's still early in the season and has only been a little over 2 months since Thomas was fired. I'm all for fans wanting to stop watching. I get that. But be respectful of the cast and crew and other fans. Same goes for CBS, the cast/crew and other fans as well. Respect those who don't want to watch anymore.

I shared a post in the Rossi's notebook thread. I probably should have shared it here but a similar topic was discussed in that thread and I thought I was in the Hotch thread.

Heck, I'll share it here too:

So I get that a significant portion of the #nohotchnowatch group of fans are acting out in a disgusting and vulgar manner and I definitely have no excuse for their behaviour, however I am so sad to see how disgusting in return the rest of the fandom has become.

I know it’s just a response to the completely undeserved hate Paget/others on the show are getting from this protesting group (who are a minority I might add), but seriously.

Hotch (the contrived, fictional character) was a great character and so many people are literally dragging the character down like a piece of **** that added nothing to the plot for 10 years.

Thomas Gibson the actor yes was in the wrong and I still feel needs to apologise to the fans for disappointing them if nothing else (even if he genuinely believes he doesn’t need to), has generally taken the high road and is sitting quietly in his pathetic sad little bubble (I genuinely believe) trying to move on with his life.

- #nohotchnowatch fans: continue your protest but do it peacefully. Stop hating on Paget/Adam/Harry Bring etc. It’s unnecessary and does nothing for your cause.

- Everyone else in the fandom: STOP FEEDING THE TROLLS. Focus on continuing to support and champion Paget and Adam and Damon and the writers who work so hard on this show.

This hate is cyclic, you’re only feuling eachother and honestly I’m just about done with this fandom atm. I thought we were better than this.

Take a note out of Paget’s book and take the freaking high-road and MOVE ON.

And my response on the other thread:
Quote:
I agree with this person. Yes, SOME of the Hotch fans are being over the top, but like they said, but it's not just them. There's a small group of fans on both sides that are taking things too far. If ratings go down, the #NoHotchNoWatch fans gloat and go crazy. When the ratings went up, other fans and even Harry were all "Haha suck it no Hotch no watch people" and gloating.

Like this person said, if you don't want to watch, that's absolutely fine. But don't mean to fans who are still watching and don't be rude to the cast and crew. And for fans who are still watching and could care less about Thomas/Hotch being gone, don't be rude to the fans who don't want to watch anymore and don't tell them to just "get over it". I think everyone just needs to relax and respect other people's opinions.

I think too when Harry and Virgil and others do reply to people on Twitter, it just seems to make matters worse. There's just no winning and it probably would be best for some people to just keep things to themselves on social media. But of course, people can say and write whatever they want, so again, there's just no winning.

And I agree Matt, if anything, fans who are really upset should complain or write to ABC Studios/CBS, not attacking the cast and crew. I think I saw someone on another board say they think it was CBS who suspended him but ABC Studios who fired him. Not sure if that's true or not.

I will continue to watch as long as the writing is still good and enjoyable. So far season 12 has just been okay for me. Nothing too special but still good. It's only episode 3 so more episodes need to come out to judge the season.

Sometimes I just think I should avoid Tumblr and Twitter because that's where I see most of the extreme fans on both sides. But the post I shared I think is a very good post and really hit some important things.

As I said before, there needs to be respect from both sides. Instead CBS and some of the crew and fans keep escalating feelings from both sides and I think people just need to relax a bit. You can state your opinion but state it in a respectful way and understand that others will disagree.

Hah, you should turn off tumblr/twitter... I'm so much relaxed that I don't follow news, twitter and tumblr about CM anymore (and any other show)... its not that I don't want to, I just don't have the time...

Yeah, I really should. But that's where I get most of my news from and see fun posts

You're probably best not following news about shows. There's a bunch of good stuff mixed in with bad and crazy sometimes. But hopefully you have time to post in this forum

I don't follow Criminal Minds news on twitter/tumblr but at the same time I'm grateful that Matt and jls do because they always share good stuff here.

And I agree that both sides are being nasty - it's like you're not a real fan if you gave up watching because of Hotch OR because you keep watching even without him. But I'm confident this is just a small portion of the fandom in the grand scheme of things. I doubt the older/adult audience will give this much thought. For example, my cousin is obsessed with the show (and she was a huge Morgan fan) and upon the Thomas news, she was disappointed but never once considered quitting it.

It's weird to me that people (unless they're huge fans of a particular actor and only started the show because of said actor) will give up a show entirely, regardless of its quality, just because someone left. Hotch was easily my favorite character and I'll miss him dearly but I also love all the other characters and a lot of aspects of Criminal Minds. I've stuck for 12 seasons and I plan on going until the very end.

I mean, I stuck around with freaking Seaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt, so you better believe it takes a lot more to lose me as a viewer.

I done my best not to even share all the negative stuff i see on twitter about al this. My best response is "Thomas has hired a law firm to look into his legal options"

No matter who is involved, he Thomas, is the only one who can sue and fight the termination . At this point ,knowing in the US how long a law suit can take , he may just try and get a financial settlement . He is losing over 4 million + in pay ..

I agree with Ana i enjoy the show ,no matter who leaves , i will watch it till it is no longer enjoyable .

As we all have said our only wish is when the show ever ends, they give thomas his cameo . for over 11 seasons the deserves that

A series finale without a single Hotch scene would be really disrespectful to the fans so I'm hoping they won't do that.

I'm doubting they'll have him on set to do a cameo. Not after all that has gone on, and is going on.

I am hoping they can give him some attention, without an appearance if they can't have him there.

That's a good letter, and pretty much how I feel about the #NoHotchNoWatch people (but a lot more polite)

tonight expect a large protest online from #NoHotchNoWatch fans

Thomas Gibson was terminated by ABC studios, a subsidiary of Disney, following an altercation involving him and writer and co-producer Virgil Williams, but #NoHotchNoWatch will not let Hotch die. The #NoHotchNoWatch Twitter group is just part of a huge network of hashtags for those sad about Gibson’s departure.

#ThankYouThomasGibson
#SupportThomas Gibson
#WeSupportThomasGibson
#ThomasGibson
#MissingHotch
#StillMissingHotch

Criminal Minds writers allegedly have the plan to kill Hotchner off on the show. Fans find this idea especially offensive, because not only would Hotch’s death make a return difficult, but it would be upsetting to those fans still watching. Even for #NoHotchNoWatch fans who refuse to watch the show, Aaron Hotchner’s death would be horrific news.

The #NoHotchNoWatch Thomas Gibson fans are not about to throw in the towel. In fact, #NoHotchNoWatch is staging a massive worldwide Twitter protest on Wednesday Night, at the exact same time Criminal Minds is televised on CBS. In addition to daily tweeting for fans, these special meet-ups are especially cohesive to the group.

Those people really won't take a break, will they?

I agree that killing off Hotch would be pretty shtty though, completely unnecessary and disrespecftul.

Agreed. There's no reason to kill Hotch other than to be immature and make a statement. Personally I think it would be the easy way out and cowardly, in my opinion.

Definitely immature. Like the bratty kid who owns the ball and won't let anyone else play with it unless his team is winning. Killing off Hotch would make most fans disappointed, not just the NoHotchNowatch people. It's a risky (and stupid) decision.

They wouldn't dare kill off Hotch. The backlash would be too much for them to bare. It's bad enough as it is already with him off the show. To kill him would be suicidal. I'd like to think the powers that be have more good sense than that.
