Synopsis:

Soul Surfer is based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton, who at thirteen years old lost her arm during a vicious shark attack off the coast of Hawaii. Emboldened by generous public support, Hamilton did not allow her personal tragedy to trump her dreams; instead, she continued her dream of professional surfing, learning how to hone her skill to accommodate her new body.

I just noticed this movie is on Demand for me! I have the DVD of course, but having it on demand will make it easier to watch

I love Bethany Hamilton, but didn't remember her story until this movie. Carrie did wonderful in her role. She made me tear up in the scene talking to Bethany shortly after her attack - about why God lets "bad" things happen to good people.

I was a big part of I Am Second at my college and Bethany filmed an Ia2 video of her story and faith in God. I have sat in the white chair, since Ia2 is headquartered in Texas. Was happy we also got to hear Carrie sing in the movie!

It was beautifully done.

This movie is for sure a tear jerker, but in a good way. It reminds you to not take things for granted and to always keep faith that things will get better even if things are at their worst.

I wish she had more roles where she could sing.

I had heard about it because it was all over the news here in the states then. Back then there weren't as many shark attack victims, or at least well publicized attacks.
