Since I am on summer break, I’m just finding things to watch with all my free time. I’m currently watching Orphan Black. Great show about clones and bioengineering or bio printing them.

Makes sense, I don't blame you there I'd probably do the same if I had a summer break. Orphan Black seemed interesting but don't think I watched past one episode. Felt like it'd require too much thinking & paying attention

Yes, like Lost, you can get easily confused if you’re not following the story. Well, you will be confused if you are following. I enjoy sitcoms if I am multitasking. Turn your brain off and just have a good laugh.

I think my problem is that I know people, like you, with actual family history. So while you may not be meant to compare, it is easy to compare and say no what I have is one person not family history. My one person just happened to be my mother so there is the direct link.

I love that. It is true and more people need to realise that.

I do not know what having responsibilities is like but it is wonderful to be able to come and go and not worry too much on letting people down. At least when it comes to the Graphics Team there is not a tight responsibility there and you can have some coming and going freedom.

Yeah, posting can feel like a chore when I feel like if I am not posting X amount each day, I’m letting the board down. I can do better. I’ve been on forums for many, many years. Even before I joined , at a time when forums were really popular. It was more popular here back in the day as well. We would get to 300 posts in a thread within 30 minutes or less. There were more guidelines for moderators, rules and expectations. I remember one was having to make 25 posts daily. Things have significantly loosened up since then, but I always felt like I had to make as many posts as possible, in as many threads as possible, as a good moderator. But that’s me being hard on myself. It just sucked a little of the fun away. Whereas now, I can post on whichever threads I want to and not post on a thread for a couple I don’t love. There were a lot of shipper wars back in the day too and I remember I had to remain as neutral as possible. I’m speaking of a different forum, but I can imagine that was similar at the height of forum popularity.

Less busier nowadays but I would say better overall. Less strict and more freedom! It’s hard though to try and be easier on myself. You want to always strive for your best.

Graphics Team, as well as the other teams, are different with different tasks. You’re right.

Meanwhile I will argue that I do have family history, mine just happens to be not as direct & from my father, it still is history

The 25 posts a day was for the board average, not moderators. Then it started dropping down until now where there is no posting limit. Moderators are still expected to make 5 posts a day but the MMs are also supportive & understand that isn't always possible. They check I think it is twice a year that your last 250 posts on a board don't exceed 3 months. Popularity depends on the board. Some still have threads that people can go through in a day. Others have always had struggles & are grateful for the change. Shipping wars could be bad, it was good to have mods which supported different things. I have to be neutral on a thread on L&OF because I dont want a ship to happen but the thread is there if fans want to discuss them.

I respond slowly to threads on some boards because I know the activity & it helps spread the posts across the week. Even if there isn't the 48 hour rule anymore I want an active looking board

Yeah, so it’s not so bad. But I agree that it’s better to have a board that looks more active.

Unfortunately the interest in forums has lessened so the changes were made to reflect that. So many boards were closing as the pressure of meeting posting requirements were too hard unfortunately too.

That sounds like a lot of pressure. There certainly seemed like a pressure with an expectation for boards to make a set amount of posts each month. However I do also agree boards should be active so there should be an expectation. At least there is one for moderators still. 250 posts in three months sounds so little as that works out more like two posts a day.

I don't understand the need for shipping wars. Each to their own if they want to appreciate that couple. But I can see how some shows would lead to them; particularly ones which have the love triangles or characters who go through multiple different relationships during the course of the show.

Bensler? That thread is for the actors more than the characters as the Bensler fans don't seem to be around.

And I give you a batch over the weekend to do that with. Here are some bonus posts since I came on to post my fixed graphic and add my graphics to the tracking thread.

We have Cece

There is some pressure I find when there's less posters . But I also had moments where I'm just like 'if people want the board, you need to post, I can sit here modding it but I can't post alone' Sometimes you just need patience to get through quiet times too

Shipping wars are evil & can get ugly

Yeah the Bensler one No idea where the Bensler fans are it can be a thread for the actors until they want it though

Batch of posts appreciated

That’s true. There were times in my modding on where it was just my co-mod and I posting and then it’s like what is the point of having a board. Just us moderators interacting with each other. And then very few times, I didn’t even really like my co-mod for various reasons. I always liked having discussions more so I am rarely on the game threads. I find those threads to be a waste of time and only for filler posts.

The board I was describing I didn't have a co-mod on at the time. There was no discussion as there were no posters. Then random ones would stop by, & I just took whatever I got. Discussion is better but when you have nothing a post is a post . I think some people use games because it is all they have tine for & they view them as quick & easy but when it is constant & feel like it is only games it is hard.

Gotcha! Yes, for sure. When I was a mod, I definitely appreciated the game threads. There are some that do help get to know each other. I’ve always liked the TPAM and TBPM threads. Hot Seat is fun. I just never really gotten the point of Anti-ABC and such threads. And then Last Letter threads have expanded on some boards and they have Last Two Letters and I saw Last Three Letters on one board.

To save a board, I would consider moderating again but really enjoying just being a poster!

Some boards go too far with the games imo. I put a limit on L&OF & we reduced them recently on NCIS. I have franchises, we shouldn't be relying on games . There can be fun ones though like I Spy I have seen & had on boards. A little more work than just finding words starting with letters.
