This just in! Carrie Underwood is set to rock the stage at The Emmys. The country superstar is going to perform during the big show on Sunday September 22nd to honor the 50th anniversary of the shooting of President John F. Kennedy which happened on November 22nd, 1963 and The Beatles famous concert on The Ed Sullivan Show just 80 days on after the president was shot.

Don Cheadle will present what has developed to be a very moving portion.

"To have an opportunity to look back at a time that represented television’s finest hour in a program that celebrates so many of this year’s achievements is what makes the Emmys special," executive producer Ken Ehrlich explained in a statement. "We are certain that viewers will enjoy this special tribute."

In the year 1963, this also pronounced the development of network newscasts from 15 minutes to an half hour and the FCC’s consent of the remote control for home watching.

As it was first announced, Elton John will also be performing at The Emmys. He’ll be singing his new song, “Home Again,” during a memorial to Liberace and HBO’s documentary of the late performer, Behind The Candelabra.

The awards show is being hosted by Neil Patrick Harris for the second time. But who doesn’t love NPH? The show will be broadcasted live on CBS Sunday starting at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT.

It is a shame there was backlash from the performance. I thought the song was perfect, she sang the song great, and it fit the time period she was singing.

I haven't seen the Emmys in full, only Carrie's performance, so I'm not sure how well it all fitted together!

I basically only watched her part too, I did see the part that led up to it, but I thought it led into and fit her singing the song perfectly, so I don't see what the fuss was about.

I thought her performance was perfect! But then again, I think her performances are always perfect.

I love who they have added to the Sound of Music cast! Carrie's the only non-Broadway veteran so far.
