Evie, unfortunately for both of us it's not. I like the song and Carrie's voice sounds perfect, but it's a little overproduced. I blame Mark Bright. He seems to like everything BIG. I think big is good, but she doesn't need to glory note all the time.

At least Carrie's aware of it. She's mentioned before that just because she can hit those big notes, doesn't mean she always has to have them. Hopefully she'll stick with having an acoustic performance in her concert set.

 ITA about the glory notes... she can do them, and does them excellently, but she still sings fantastically without one.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I think it takes away from the song sometimes, they don't always fit the tone. I love the acoustic Target version of JAD better than the album version. To me there is more feeling when it's stripped down because I think the production kind of distracts from the emotion in her voice. Still one of my favorites on the album though.

well, I think Last Name is kinda overrated
I love You Won't Find This and Twisted and even I Know You Won't better

 Carrie really gets into her songs emotionally, and I love listening to that in her songs.

~Leonie~ 01-18-2008 05:05 AM

ahhh, hard one
I think it depends on my mood and what Im going through
but right now I think Wheel Of The World or So Small

say something 01-18-2008 12:56 PM

That really is a hard one. I think I probably relate most to Wheel of the World though.

 That's not one of my favourites, but I'd have to say that's one of the songs I can relate to more than some of the others.

Aw that sucks about the new song..[re: the production.] Haven't heard it yet, will get onto that in a sec.

That's totally true about the glory notes though. It's like they think they *have* to have one in every song just 'cos Carrie can do them. It's probably way harder to pull things back with a stripped down song [or just one that doesn't rely on a glory note], so it'd be cool to see Carrie test her vocal chops that way.

The only song I can completely relate to right now is Get Out of This Town. Man, how I would *love* to do that. Damn work, if not for that I would totally do it.

And I Know You Won't. Not for the reasons she's wailing about in it, but just the idea of being fully aware of the bigger picture and not being able to really do anything about it 'cos it's bigger than I am. So I guess you could say So Small, 'cos that's kind of the same thing, theme-wise.

ETA: I'm not sure if this was mentioned yet, but the label is releasing CR on a Musicpass (not really sure what it is. I think it might be like a prepaid card you use to buy a cd digitally. Does anyone know?) with a new song called "Sometimes You Leave". Here is a demo version of the song if anyone's interested. I think it's supposed to be released tomorrow. I hope it's just her and a piano like the demo. Something like that from Carrie would be awesome.

Wow that was really nice. Thanks for the link. :)
