There's also Bridgerton, I started something called Little Dragon, and I still need to finish Midnight Sun. It got pushed aside this year.

Is it less enjoyable than other books?

That is because it is a bad book. Skip to the baseball scene and onward.

1) I Must Betray You
by Ruta Sepetys
Release date: February 1st

Romania, 1989. Communist regimes are crumbling across Europe. Seventeen-year-old Cristian Florescu dreams of becoming a writer, but Romanians aren’t free to dream; they are bound by rules and force.

Amidst the tyrannical dictatorship of Nicolae Ceaușescu in a country governed by isolation and fear, Cristian is blackmailed by the secret police to become an informer. He’s left with only two choices: betray everyone and everything he loves—or use his position to creatively undermine the most notoriously evil dictator in Eastern Europe.

Cristian risks everything to unmask the truth behind the regime, give voice to fellow Romanians, and expose to the world what is happening in his country. He eagerly joins the revolution to fight for change when the time arrives. But what is the cost of freedom?

I love Ruta's books. She's my favorite YA Historical Fiction authors. Keep tissues near by.

2) One Italian Summer
by Rebecca Serle
Release date: March 1

A long-awaited holiday in Italy takes a turn for the weird when Katy runs into her mother in the small town of Positano, Italy. The really strange part: Mom is dead, and the woman Katy meets appears to be adrift in time from 30 years ago, when Mom took a trip to the exact same small town. Hmm, this wasn’t covered in the travel guide.

I saw this on Goodreads. I never heard of the author. At least I don't think I have. But the title word Italian caught my eye and it sounds interesting.

3) Sea of Tranquility
by Emily St. John Mandel
Release date: April 5

Those who have read her books can tell you: Emily St. John Mandel is a Schedule I addictive author. With her new book, Mandel brings her sophisticated blend of lateral thinking and deep empathy to a kind of time-travel story, with stops in 1912 Vancouver and a lunar space station about, oh, 300 years from now. Sea of Tranquility drops April 5—mark your calendars now.

I like Emily's two previous books and this sounds good.

I was really enjoying Midnight Sun, but I got distracted by Jane Austen and other things I wanted to read. I will get back to it.

Meanwhile, I don't have anything for the Tuesday list.....
