Last year's big hit was All the Light We Cannot See. I enjoyed it immensely. It's set during WW2. Have you read it? I believe it just won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction last month.

Heard nothing but great things about this novel. I checked online yesterday and I'm #150 in the waiting queue at my local library.

Winning the Pulitzer Prize for fiction has made it even more in demand.

I like WWII historical fiction. I just finished Salt to the Sea, by Ruta Sepetys. I loved it and cried so much at the end.

Quote:
Winter, 1945. Four teenagers. Four secrets.

Each one born of a different homeland; each one hunted, and haunted, by tragedy, lies…and war.

As thousands of desperate refugees flock to the coast in the midst of a Soviet advance, four paths converge, vying for passage aboard the Wilhelm Gustloff, a ship that promises safety and freedom.

Yet not all promises can be kept.

Inspired by the single greatest tragedy in maritime history, bestselling and award-winning author Ruta Sepetys (Between Shades of Gray) lifts the veil on a shockingly little-known casualty of World War II. An illuminating and life-affirming tale of heart and hope.
The Wilhelm Gustloff was an actual ship that existed. It's the biggest maritime disaster in history. More so than the Titanic.

I also love Ruta's other WWII book, Between Shades of Gray.

Others are The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and Anna and the Swallow Man by Gavriel Savit.
