I'll be happy enough if its tolerable, anything other than that is a bonus So far, 100 pages in, is not bad.

Why are you so wary of it?

Because I loved Tamlin/Feyre in the first book. Its why I have put this off for so long
But I'm beginning to see that Mortal Feyre belonged with Tamlin, but broken, immortal, changed Feyre -- may not, and I'm okay with that now. Last edited by Stay to the Lights; 07-20-2016 at 12:59 AM |

I think Tam was what she needed at that time. When she needed comfort after living a ****ty life. But Tam was never going to be there for her no matter what. He was never going to treat her as an equal. It may not have been as obvious in the first book because we see everything from Ferye's POV and she wasn't really thinking about it in the first one. But I think in hindsight, I can see it in the first one too.

Well, they weren't equals in the first book, nor did they need to be, she didn't care about that stuff then. But Tam is a protector, and that is what came natural to him, it was what she needed at the time, yes. But I think its understandable that she isn't the same person she was then, so things have changed, not necessary a bad thing, just the way life is.
Anyway, I'm about 200 pages in and am enjoying it, surprisingly, so not as bad as I feared. |

Maybe i'm over thinking and over analyzing this, but Feyre wasn't all that bothered about being treated as a porcelain doll in the first one because she was too caught up in the novelty of a comfortable life. But that was never going to remain the case. I mean, who would be content to spend the rest of their lives bubble-wrapped? Like, I get the desire to protect the people you love, but Tam was always possessive and treated her like something to be had, to be kept away from anything he deemed unsafe. And I've personally never been a fan of that sort of relationship. I feel like in a good relationship, you treat your partner as your equal. And if you aren't or can't see yourselves as equals, then find someone else. But I get the impression that Tam never wanted an equal, he wanted a possession to hide away and keep safe. Which becomes blatantly obvious in the second book, but I think I subconsciously picked up on it in the first one too because the moment Rhys showed up on Calnmai, I shipped her with him.
I'm glad to hear that though. I'm curious how you'll feel at the end. I mean, leaving leave aside Feyre's love life, the Night Court is so awesome. And some of the new characters. They're just great and we get to learn so much more about Prythian and the Fae. |

I finished it.
I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it very much And Lucien/Elain? Now that is very interesting. I need theirs to be one of the extra books. Looking forward to the next book. |

Just finished the second book. I'll admit that it made me angry at first because I loved Tamlin and Feyre so much in the first book. As the story unfolded though, I couldn't help but falling in love with Rhys and Feyre. I loved that he treated her as an equal and let her make her own choices. Saved her from herself etc. It was perfect the way the two ended up. I'm still a bit upset about what SJM did to Tam but I admit that I realize who Feyre is now just doesn't fit with Tamlin anymore. I can't wait for the third installment hope we get some of those answers to the questions this book left us with. I can't wait to see more of Feyre kicking butt and taking names. And more of the supporting characters I fell in love with here: Amren, Mor, Cassian and Azriel.

Yeah, she may not fit with Tam anymore, but I am interested to see where she takes his character next.
The book surprised me too, because I too loved Tam and Feyre in the first book, but the way everything unfolded made sense and was done well and realistic. |

Yeah, it was that's why I ended up changing teams . As to Tamlin, I hope he realizes his mistakes when it comes to Feyre. I want him to find love, his mate once we, hopefully, get to see more inside his head. I have this feeling tho, that he might die. We shall see. I do think he loves Feyre but it's a very twisted concept of love, like Feyre says herself: "Love can be poison.". Once he realizes that maybe he'll let her go.

I don't want him to die He isn't the villian, just misunderstood and has made the wrong choices. Doesn't make him bad. I hope Sarah explores more of him. I want happiness for him.

I don't want him to die either but what happened in Hybern made me think that he might. I'm probably wrong anyway . Yeah, I want him to be happy too and learn from his mistakes.

I don't care either way, honestly. Like, I don't particularly want him to die. But I won't really care if he does. I never cared for his character that much even in the first book.
