It must be really tough to let go when a whole career was built on a single series. Like with Stephen King, he's got to many different tales. Diana only has Outlander and who knows if she has other ideas outside of this saga.

When something is causing your blood pressure to go up, you have to let that thing go.

But then she should have ended it years ago and wrote something else.

She is in control of the work.

Unless she is being forced because she's under contract.

I wouldn't mind if she wrote novellas and side stories, but I am just worried that she won't let go of the main story. It is just speculation at this point that there could be more books. What worries me that even Diana isn't sure

How would you feel about Diana writing a story about Claire/Jamie's descendants 200 years after the 1900s?

Only if she had a different idea. If you have a different idea then you can branch out.

Maybe she had no other ideas.

Interesting idea, but to be honest I'm not sure would I read it. I've not read any of the short stories or side stories, since they really don't interest me. I need the time travel and romance aspect to keep me interested

And the fact that she doesn't know what's going to happen in the year 2160 probably means she has no desire to write something like that. She wants history, not speculative future.

Yeah, exactly, she heavily leans to the history in her books and all the little details she can find.

Her house must be filled with reference books

Leave the speculative future to the fan fiction.

I usually don't read speculative future books

I mean... that considered Sci-Fi?

Or is general fiction in the future?

hmmm, I don't consider it sci-fi. I think it's sometimes dystopian.

Definitely.

Why is never just general fiction? Why do they make the future bleak?

Definitely I've got to admire how well she keeps everything in order; a surprise character made a come back in the later part of this book that I had basically completely forgotten
