September Book Club: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

Alright, everyone. The book for September, chosen by you, is The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. Amazon.com has this to say about the novel:
Quote:
Once you start The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, there's no turning back. This debut thriller--the first in a trilogy from the late Stieg Larsson--is a serious page-turner rivaling the best of Charlie Huston and Michael Connelly. Mikael Blomkvist, a once-respected financial journalist, watches his professional life rapidly crumble around him. Prospects appear bleak until an unexpected (and unsettling) offer to resurrect his name is extended by an old-school titan of Swedish industry. The catch--and there's always a catch--is that Blomkvist must first spend a year researching a mysterious disappearance that has remained unsolved for nearly four decades. With few other options, he accepts and enlists the help of investigator Lisbeth Salander, a misunderstood genius with a cache of authority issues. Little is as it seems in Larsson's novel, but there is at least one constant: you really don't want to mess with the girl with the dragon tattoo
This really looks like an interesting book and they have a copy of it in my local library so I'm hoping to be able to read it a little later this month. So, alright, let the discussion begin

Wow. It looks interesting. I will put that on my book list. I'm actually hold number 15 at my library, so it'll be awhile. Lol.

I read it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Too bad the author died I would have loved to read more books featuring Mikael and Liesbeth.

oh wow...that will be awhile!

I know they have it at my library, but I'll go tonight to see if the copies are checked out or not. I'm excited this book got chosen!

Yeah, I know bummer, isn't it?

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo really hooked me, really fast. Such intelligent writing.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is one of my favorite books. I already have this one on loan from the library. I have to finish two other books first before I start it.

I won't be able to get to the library until sometime next week so I'm hoping it's still in. We'll just see, but I really want to read this. I'm glad it got picked this month, because I'd never heard of it before the nomination.

It's been a best seller in Québec for the last year or so... people have gone crazy for it, it's kind of a new DaVinci Code for us!!

What I like the most about it is that Larsson really makes you love the characters. Like Lisbeth. She could be someone you hate because she's so odd and all. But I ended up loving her so, so much.

It's sad that Larsson died before he achieved all this success.

Oh my.. this book is all over Denmark! It's just everywhere! (Well it is a Swedish book so it is not that strange)... everyone I know has read it (+ they all love it) and the movie came out a couple of months ago. Well I guess it is my turn to read it

I work in a book/dvd/music store on weekends, and his books have been selling like crazy. My mom bought a copy last week before she left on holiday, but I'll probably read it once she gets back.

It's been crazy in Québec as well. Everyone has read it!

And I saw the movie and it was really good.

Ugh...I checked both the libraries by me this weekend for it, but they both have over a dozen holds on it! So right now it's looking like I'm not going to be able to join in, but I'll keep checking to see if they get any more copies in, and I'm on the hold list.

So, did anyone manage to get their hands on the book? How's the reading going?
