The DVD said it was a Jane Austen Novella, so I knew it would be short.

Next up: the old version of Pride & Prejudice.

The 1940 version.

Jane needed more time to write books!

I do wonder if she had lived to 50+ what other plots she would've come up with.

Maybe she wouldn't have had to pour so many characters into each book.

That is a nice thought.

And maybe as she got older she would've started a book with a couple who was already married and not made the drama about finding a husband.

Yes, and break out of the archetypes she wrote.

I watched the 1940's Pride & Prejudice last night.
Not bad, but it was at the time when actresses all pitched their voices the same,
so they all sounded like Glenda from Wizard Of Oz. That was a little distracting.
Also all of them had those painted on eyebrows of the time, and I can't see Jane Austen
with painted on eyebrows, in a puffy sleeved dress with a plaid sash, a giant round hat,
and talking so posh.
It was in black and white, so it was funny to hear Wickham say: who is the girl in the blue dress?

Black and white movies should've omitted any color reference. Have Wickham say another line.

a giant round hat,
Bonnets! We need bonnets, not giant round hats

There was an extra scene for the ending:
Lydia was married, Jane & Elizabeth engaged;
Mrs. Bennett heard singing in a room and opened up the door-
Mary was playing the piano with a young man playing a flute behind her and
Kitty was holding hands with an officer.
The mother says- Mr. Bennett! 3 married off and 2 at the threshold!
THE END
