Do you love the lake scene?

I liked the 2007 Persuasion.
I'll keep that in mind.

BehrItAll 06-18-2022 05:46 PM

Who stared in that one?

IndyFan 06-19-2022 05:23 AM

Sally Hawkins & Rupert Penry-Jones.
The other movies were good too, I just liked these actors.

LilMouse 06-19-2022 01:47 PM

CiarĂ¡n Hinds was in a version too.

I forgot to mention, that in the 1940's P & P, Lady Catherine was written to be very charming. When she came to confront Elizabeth about being engaged, Darcy was waiting outside in the carriage. The idea was that his aunt went in to get a feel for Elizabeths feelings towards Darcy, and told him she would do very well for him.
Oh, thank you, aunt!

Why did the people behind that version feel like they needed to give Lady Catherine a new personality? We don't need her to be nice.

IndyFan 06-20-2022 06:04 PM

In all other versions and in the book, Darcy wasn't part of her confronting Elizabeth.

LilMouse 06-21-2022 01:58 PM

Makes Darcy seem like he runs to his auntie for help with everything.

IndyFan 06-22-2022 06:07 AM

We know he didn't!

LilMouse 06-22-2022 12:41 PM

Exactly. Darcy is better than that.

I'm still waiting for more Sanditon to be available, so I am going to add Mansfield Park (1999 version) to my watch list. I don't remember much of this story.

I think out of all the Austen books, it has the least amount of story

IndyFan 07-05-2022 05:10 PM

I will remember it after I see it again, but I can't recall the story at the moment.

LilMouse 07-06-2022 08:21 AM

I remember a blonde guy was caught getting frisky.
