This is my first Steinbeck book. I don't count Grapes of Wrath because I didn't actually read it when I was in school.
Interesting that there isn't required reading anymore. I don't know if I like that. I think it gives a teacher a very vast catalog to choose from and sometimes required reading helps them narrow it down. __________________

Also, I had one cool teacher who linked the period of the book with a group project and each group researched a topic about the time. Like, when we were The Great Gatsby we researched the 1920s. My group researched fashion. My friend's researched the food of the 1920s and put on a restaurant skit. I forgot the others. Maybe entertainment (radio, cinema, theater) ??? |

I did take a short story class one semester so while everyone else was reading Othello I was reading Bradbury's short stories .
