Great Books for Gay Teens |
Fantasy and Science Fiction:
Mercedes Lackey's Last Herald Mage Trilogy (Magic's Pawn, Magic's Promise, and Magic's Price) pretty much anything by Clive Barker will have gay themes, some have gay main characters, others have gay supporting characters Ethan of Athos by Lois McMaster Bujold The Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling (Luck in the Shadows, Stalking Darkness, Traitor's Moon, and Shadows Return) Becoming Human by Valerie J. Freireich Jane S. Fancher's Dance of the Rings (Ring of Lightning, Ring of Intrigue, and Ring of Destiny) and NetWalkers trilogies (Groundties, Uplink, and Harmonies of the Net)- sadly, both trilogies are out of print though Spin State and Spin Control by Chris Moriarty Fiction: Dream Boy by Jim Grimsley- and probably most of his other books too Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown and here are some lesbian science fiction and fantasy authors who have gay, lesbian, and bisexual characters in most of their books: Tanya Huff Lyda Morehouse Melissa Scott Ellen Kushner Elizabeth A. Lynn Laurie J. Marks |
Thanks u all!
I'll update the list soon! :) Hey, Soz... What about this "Last Herald Mage"... What is it about? Did u read? bb, Samwise |
The Last Herald Mage is so good! It's set in Lackey's world of Valdemar, in which Heralds get Chosen by Companions (sort of special horses) and they protect the kingdom. The protagonist of this particular trilogy is Vanyel, a gay teenager with a lot of magical gifts.

I heard that one of Amelia Atwater-Rhodes's more recent books had a lesbian character but I honestly can't remember which one.
I've yet to read anything by Mercedes Lackey but I really want to. I may have to pick up one of the Last Herald Mage series. It sounds interesting. |

Certainly it isn't available here in Brazil! I want to read it!!! :( |
Gay historical fiction:
As Meat Loves Salt - Maria McCann. Best book I've read within the gay genre, really. I've linked a review, as well  |
Never thought of some of these books here...

If there is any e-book u guys let me know... lol |
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky and Bookends by Jane Green also have gay characters.
|
I just picked up Tiger Tiger by Galaxy Craze which I believe focuses on a same-sex lesbian relationship but also deals with bisexuality. I'll find out when I read it but it looks really good.

I'm gonna update the list as soon as I get home!
