Yea - an Anne of Green Gables thread! Thanks for starting this, and what great timing since I just started my re-read of the first book
I've decided to do a read/re-read of the entire series this year - I've only ever gotten to Anne of Windy Poplars before but really want to finish all the books. __________________

I'm surprised there wasn't a thread for this already. Which part are you at in the first book? It's easily my favorite. Good luck on getting through them all.
I loved AoGG when I first read when I was 11 and I still love it today. I remember there was a cartoon of AoGG I used to watch after school. I've read the first book the most times, and the 2nd maybe two-three times. I've read the rest of the books only once, except for Rilla of Ingleside. I think stopped because Anne wasn't the narrator anymore. That was years ago though, so my memory's not very fresh on some of the later books. __________________

I love that there is a thread for this now, because oddly enough I'm re-reading through the series as well. I'm about halfway through the first book. I just suddenly wanted to read them. And I watched some of the movie the other day!

I'm at the part where Anne saves Minnie May when she has croup. I love all the times Anne talks about school and says things like "Gil- I mean some of the others will get ahead" or "I don't want Gil- I mean some of the others to do better than me."
I'm really curious about Rilla of Ingleside b/c Anne's no longer the narrator. And weren't parts of the third movie based on that book, only set to Anne's life instead of Rilla's? __________________

I'm not sure I've ever actually read all of Rilla of Ingleside...I'm going to get through all of them this time though. I'm determined. (I'm on Anne of Avonlea now.) But I hadn't heard that about the third movie. It's possible though. Now I'm curious!
And the parts where she starts to say "Gilbert" but quickly changes are the best! __________________

I just started Anne of Avonlea last night, and am going to hopefully watch the first movie tonight I'm really on a huge AoGG kick right now
I know some people might find it too flowery or overly descriptive, but I really love all the descriptions in the first book of the nature and scenes around Green Gables. __________________

I loved when Anne says "Gil" how she was mad at him for a long time although I do think she held the grudge for two long, but I'm glad later on she owned up to it.

The description in the books is what makes it so special. I love all of it! I'm on the fourth book, "Anne of Windy Populars" now. Love it!

The descriptions went well with Anne's personality. I really liked the ending of the first book with Anne/Gilbert becoming friends.
Some of my favorite moments include when she got her hair green and when she had to be rescued by Gilbert when she was supposed to be Elaine. And the part where Matthew passes away always got to me. __________________

It's easy to get emotionally invested with the characters. You really feel for them and it is all because of the descriptions and the way that Montgomery wrote them.
And I love the romance of Anne and Gil. It's just...so realistic, I believe. From the development of thier relationship from enemies/competitors to friends to kindred spirits to lovers. It just fit. __________________

I agree, I love the relationship between Anne and Gilbert. It takes a while for them to be finally together, but the wait is worth it.
I have to watch the movies! I've only seen the first in its entirety, and bits from the other ones. __________________

The first movie is my favorite, probably because it is the most accurate to the books. But the others are good as well.
And waiting was definitely worth it for Anne and Gilbert. He's another one of those fictitious men that make all real men pale in comparison. __________________

I like that it takes awhile and wasn't rushed. I think it made their relationship that much better that they became such good friends. I love all the hints in the first two books of just how well matched they are for each other
I agree that the first one was most like the series and I like too that even though they didn't follow things to a T, they added things from the book into different parts of the movie...like the part about the Haunted Woods. It wasn't exactly like the books, but they still put it in and I appreciate that. I love the second movie for the Anne and Gilbert stuff we get. I was disappointed at some of the stuff we didn't get in that movie and that they tried to combine so many books into the one movie, but I still like it as a movie overall. I definitely recommend checking it out I'm still only on Anne of Avonlea...I just haven't had the time to read the books consistently to get through them faster __________________

I'm just about done with Anne's House of Dreams now I love them so much married and enjoying married life I do miss some of Avonlea though...but it's still great. Usually I have a favorite in a series...I'm not sure I could pick one for this series though.
