The Host by Stephenie Meyer #1: Unique. Interesting. Romantic. A must read.

The Host by Stephenie Meyer

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.

Absolutely agree. It's far superior to the Twilight series. I remember when I first read this book I couldn't stop reading.

i thought the first like, 60 pages or so were pretty slow, but my friend warned me that they were, so i kept reading and it definitely got better and better. i just loved the whole storyline. and i thought the couples were well done too, it seemed to all work out in the end.

plus, the premise was far more original. you dont see many alien type stories out there.

That's good to know you all like it better than her Twilight series. I wanted to read this for a while, but I never got around to it. Then, after reading BD, it has not really made me want to pick up another SM book.

Oh, I wouldn't judge this book going from Twilight, as it's so not in the same league!

yeah i agree, i wouldnt have even known it was the same author, honestly.

no offense to twilight fans, but i found those books VERY anti clamatic. it was more about romance, IMO then it was about action. nothing seemed to really happen.

but the host, IMO was complex and interesting. and there was romance, (done a lot better too, IMO) but the SL itself was interesting.

Plus, its only one book.

IDK, i like it much much better.

I think the Twilight books were meant to be more about romance than anything else, so it was no surprise that they came across that way.
But with this book, there was so much more to the book than romance, I'd even say the romance was a side story to the main plot.. and I feel it works best that way

I used to love the Twilight books before the films came. Now that I'm older, I don't find them as interesting anymore.

I loved The Host. It was slow to start off with, but I carried on reading and I'm glad I did. It's far superior to Twilight and much, much better. I want to read it again, I've only read it once so far, just haven't got round to it yet!

I tried to read this book, I tried for two years, literally. Picked it up and put it down like 6 times. I got 40 pages from the end, realized it wasn't going to end the way I wanted it to and didn't finish it. Sorry guys, but, just my opinion, this book was a fail. Sorry Steph.
