I like when kid books do have lots of words

Thanks for the new thread. I'll give my book report once I finish.

I hope I remember how to give a book report.
I haven't done that since grade school.

You can invent your own book report format.

An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving by Louisa May Alcott 11/4/23

The story is about Farmer Bassett, his wife and seven children.
Harvest is over, and they are getting ready for Thanksgiving the next day.
The mother receives a message that her mother "was failin' fast" and she'd better go to her. The children are sad that the aunts & cousins won't get to come for dinner.
The oldest girls go ahead and do the best they can at roasting a turkey with stuffing, and making a pudding. On Thanksgiving, 2 wagons full of people arrive. The message about grandmother wasn't correct, so Mom & Dad brought all of the aunts, uncles and cousins with them back home. The cooking wasn't a success, but afterwards, they played games, danced to a fiddle, and had apples and cider.
That was their Old Fashioned Thanksgiving.

So it does have a mostly happy ending even if the cooking is terrible

Yes. Strangely for Alcott, no one died!

I like the thread title, also! Whenever Beth is sick, put the book in the freezer.

She was feeling nice because it was the holiday season.

Lots of Alcott books can go in the freezer

You will read all of her books and then be the Alcott expert.

I wonder if she has books that are even better than LW and LM but people don't know it.

This is the first published novel, and according to the notes on the book, she re-wrote it ten years later. It is hard to follow. The first chapter was about an arguing engaged couple. The second chapter is about two different girls. I don't see the connection.
