CCTV / video surveillance existed in the 1970s in the US, but it was quite labor-intensive / tedious back then So it's possible Eric would be worried about that.

It's possible. Hyde might've joked that Kitty has cameras set up in Eric's room to make sure her little snicklefritz isn't doing anything he shouldn't.

That would be terrible, though, if Kitty actually did that.

What if Bob/Midge and Red/Kitty did a child swap for a week? Laurie's still in college at this time, so Eric lives with the Pinciottis while Donna lives with the Formans.

I agree. Donna would get the boundaries she's craved her whole life. She might test Red once, but he'd talk to her closer to how he talks to Hyde in "Hyde's Birthday" (4x23) when disciplining her, not yell at her the way he does Eric (or her later in the series).
