Could you do a top twenty? If so, do it in the hot seat.

But your movie list -- you'd talked about a few of those on the aforementioned hot seat thread, and I'd looked them up (sounded very interesting ). Jumanji being among your faves ... that's neat! I want to know why. *asks in the other thread* *just did*

Top Five Movies (in no particular order)
  • The Princess Bride
  • Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
  • The Godfather Parts I and II (they're a matched set)
  • The Empire Strikes Back
  • A Clockwork Orange

Oh, i loved The Godfather as a book. Never saw the movie, though.

And nah, Top 20 is too much

Top Five Movies (in no particular order)
  • A League Of Their Own
  • Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
  • The Muppet Christmas Carol
  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  • Lord of The Rings

Listen, don't make me choose a LotR movie, they're like a whole experience.

I really enjoyed the book, too. The movies make some different choices (some I agree with vs. the book, some I don't because they don't make sense character-wise) -- and I wish the first movie had added a piece of vital dialogue of Michael's from the book in a particular scene in the movie that truly shows his transition from rejecting and fighting how much like his father he truly is to beginning to accept it. That internal conflict and ultimate change is still well-reflected in the movie (since it's essentially the point of the movie from a character perspective), but that piece of dialogue is so powerful ...

The movies are fantastic, though, and the Coppola's fresh edit of The Godfather III into The Godfather: Coda turned it into a good movie that actually fits with the other two. He rearranged scenes and cut down subplots, and the ending is no longer cheesy but fitting. (I have more I could say, but that would be for DM territory, )

I didn't realize you enjoyed the LotR movies that much, Lulu! (You know how much I love the books.) Also, aw to The Muppet Christmas Carol being in your top five.

The other three don't surprise me.

It's what came to mind. Subject to change, as always.

The other day I thought this had been Top Five Videogames and I was afraid I had forgotten The Last of Us Part 2. Very random...

That could be our next Top Five.

Here's your answer, Dasha: The Godfather (1972), The Godfather: Part II (1974), and The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone (1990 / 2020). Watching the first two is enough (but the last one, like I said, now fits far better with the storytelling of the original two).

Next Top Five ...

VIDEO / COMPUTER GAMES!

I also thought there are director and theatrical cuts of every movie, though?

Just the third movie, which is now called Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. The first two are the theatrical cuts (I don't believe director cuts of them exist, although The Godfather Saga was edited for TV to show the first two movies together, and it added certain scenes not shown in theaters to replace the more violent ones removed for TV viewers).

Thank you! Narrowing it down wasn't easy, but I think you might have a tougher time with that.

  • The Longest Journey
  • The Last of Us Part 2
  • Stardew Valley
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 (Remaster)

As always, this is a list of the moment. I did try to cover a lot of bases, but there are simply too many games.

Lulu, do you think you'd enjoy skateboarding for real? Or is the video game version exciting enough?
