Shawn and Kelso ... how would a conversation between those two go? If Red were witness to it -- yeah, it wouldn't be pretty.

I honestly don't even know where to begin with that...

I think the universe might implode if Shawn and Kelso met.

It would be funny, though, if Kitty thought Shawn was "charming" and "adorable" and got a crush on him.

Kitty! She's the only one who could call Red a dumbass and get away with it.

Did Eric and Kitty ever gang up on Red with a snark-fest? I can't remember. I don't think Kitty liked or allowed Eric to snark at Red in her presence.

They absolutely should have! But I also feel like she always disapproved of Eric being snarky, so there was little chance for that.

So true.

Yeah. Though it's also nice to see, on the other hand, because often in shows the boundary between parent and child is usually blurred. On T7S, the boundary is distinct, and this is shown as a good thing. With Donna and her parents, the boundaries are blurred, and we see the negative effect that has on her.

Oh yeah, that's true. Nothing wrong with parents being parents and kids being kids, no blurred lines.

T7S show actually showcased different types of parenting styles well in the early seasons.

Red and Kitty: Yin and yang, disciplinarian and nurturer.

Midge and Bob: Both are loving flakes in their own way who are also a bit too wrapped up in themselves and each other, and they tend to treat Donna more like a friend then a daughter. But this creates a disturbing lack of boundaries.

John Kelso: Very intellectual but clearly not a present parent. With seven kids to wrangle, Michael Kelso probably rarely gets disciplined, which is partly why he treats his friends (and girlfriend) so badly. He doesn't think there will be consequences to his actions (and, sadly, he's not entirely wrong).

Jack and the original Pam Burkhart: Both are rich and career/money/power-oriented. Jackie's mom is more physically present than her dad, and Jackie is raised to believe giving and receiving gifts equals love. So Jackie forgives her dad's frequent absences because of the presents he buys her.

Edna and Bud Hyde: Abusive and neglectful.

The Erdmans (Fez's Host Parents): Zealously religious.

It's interesting to see them all broken down like that.
