 Classic Comics Saturday --- Those ’70s Comics: 926 Inspired by episode 513 - “Your Time Is Gonna Come”  --- Comments: I wanted to give a little more setup to Jackie and Hyde’s scene at The Hub with Annette and Kelso. Keeping Hyde’s characterization consistent to his “Prom Night” (1x19) - season 4 version, I write his protectiveness of -- and concern for -- Jackie’s well-being on par with the aforementioned characterization, as well as having grown stronger as his feelings for her have grown. In season 5, although Hyde definitely has a significant amount of episodes and scenes where his protectiveness of Jackie is evident, it’s marred by the more intense passive-aggressive element the writers added to his personality that season to “ground” his otherwise out-of-character choices in “You Shook Me” (5x22) -- which the writers knew was out of character and addressed in that same episode to explain Hyde’s OOC-ness. (Essentially, “We know Hyde wouldn’t act this way, and we know you know he wouldn’t, but here’s why he’s deciding to do so ... even if it doesn’t truly make sense for him”). --- Colleen, thank you! Dasha, I wanted Pam to grow and earn that growth. She retains her season-6 Pam personality, but it's tempered by self-awareness, compassion, and a return of the intelligence she's characterized as having before season 5 (from what we hear about her from Jackie).  __________________

 Classic Comics Sunday --- Those ’70s Comics: 927 Inspired by episode 513 - “Your Time Is Gonna Come”  --- Comments: Because I was still ultimately following T7S’s lead, comic!Hyde displays a similar increase passive-aggressive thinking that show!Hyde does in season 5. I’ve written many times how I regret not breaking free of T7S’s plot before season 6 to stay completely true to the characters and follow where they led the story. By having Hyde sleep with the nurse in the comics, I realized I should have broken free of the show’s plot more to make sure that character is the primary driver of story. And I’m glad I got to course-correct how the show portrayed Hyde post-nurse and during his reconciliation with Jackie. It’s a huge turning point for comic!Hyde, his relationship with comic!Jackie, and for Those ‘70s Comics in general. --- Heart brushes by gallo __________________
