 Classic Comics Sunday --- Those ’70s Comics: 845 Inspired by episode 512 - “Misty Mountain Hop”  --- Comments: I wanted to show how (and why) Kitty learned from Jackie the truth of Jackie’s situation. Of everyone she knows, Jackie would likely trust her the most. Jackie either witnessed or heard about Kitty’s acts of compassion toward Hyde and Donna -- and maybe even Kelso and Fez. She’d believe Kitty would do the same for her. Also, if Hyde were actually listening to the content of Jackie’s “babbling“ (that I wrote), he would piece together the truth. Jackie switching to store-brand conditioner then rationing her usual brand? Wake up, man.  __________________

Classic Comics Sunday --- Those ’70s Comics: 847 Inspired by episode 512 - “Misty Mountain Hop”  --- Comments: Hyde, like most everyone, doesn’t know that Jackie’s mom is still not home. He’s fallen hard for Jackie and not being introduced to her mom or trusted by Jackie with her troubles hurts him. The show depicts him as an emotionally deep character, starting from “Career Day” (1x18). He starts shedding that depth in season five despite that his relationship with Jackie also brings out what’s left of it. Real!Hyde would have been tuned-in enough to know Jackie was going through something heavy, and his compassion for her would have guided his choices and behavior. The show’s version of Hyde is depicted as oblivious and, by seasons 6 and 7, worse: uncaring. Not in the comics. Keeping Hyde and Jackie/Hyde on track was one of the driving forces behind my continuing the series passed its initial satirical batch of fifty-nine for season 1. __________________

Classic Comics Saturday --- Those ’70s Comics: 848 Inspired by episode 512 - “Misty Mountain Hop”  --- Comments: This comic explicitly connects Hyde’s experiences at the end of season 1 to what Jackie is going through now. The show never does that, either explicitly or even subtextually. The parallels are obvious, of course, but the characters don’t acknowledge them in any way. That makes for a choppy story throughline in the series, creating a sense that major evens in the characters’ lives happened in isolation from one another and have no long-term mental or emotional relevance. __________________
