--- Those ’70s Comics: 577 Inspired by episode 504 - “Heartbreaker” https://i.postimg.cc/1tKF0N2k/576conflictresolution.jpg --- Comments: On the show, regardless that Donna’s shout got Hyde and Kelso to shake hands, Kelso continued his vendetta against Hyde (and Jackie’s happiness). In the comics, Hyde expects this, although he doesn’t know exactly what Kelso’s going to do. |
Great classic comic, Lisa!

--- Those ’70s Comics: 578 Inspired by episode 504 - “Heartbreaker” https://i.postimg.cc/fLjzqGcF/577insulator.jpg --- Comments: Kelso truly has very little to no self-awareness during season five. His self-entitled, narcissistic, and wounded attitude toward Jackie matches his characterization in late season four. His feelings aren’t just the only ones that are important to him, they’re also the only ones that exist in the world in his POV. Not once does he consider that running out on Jackie, all the way to California, might have hurt her. Or that sleeping with and pursuing other women that summer might ave any effect on her. Because, again, no one’s feelings have significance except his. This personality trait isn’t new for Kelso, though. When Jackie doesn’t take him back within a week of their break up in “Kiss of Death” (2x20), he launches his revenge campaign against her, using Laurie to do it. In season five, he launches a revenge campaign against her, Hyde, and their happiness together. Regardless of how badly Hyde was written in certain episodes to serve plot, Kelso’s narcissism is inherent to his character. Jackie is both lucky and wise to have dumped him for good as early as she did in her life. Had she accepted his narcissistic perspective, as she does in “Love, Wisconsin Style” (4x27) (see False Equivalency: Kelso’s “Most Romantic Gesture” Toward Jackie for an explanation), she would’ve been subjected to outsize punishments their whole relationship whenever he felt slighted by her – while he did far worse to her and expected her to accept his bad treatment without complaint. No, she wasn’t perfect in their relationship, either. But in the balance, his abuse was far worse and would’ve continued to be so had they stayed together. He’s lucky, too, that she didn’t go back to him yet again. That gave him a chance to grow and change with Brooke. Too bad the writers didn’t allow those changes to stick, but that was always the way with Kelso: any growth he had on the show was eventually erased because That ‘70s Show’s writers needed their womanizing cad for easy laughs. --- Star Vector Brush Set PS7 Vector ‘Style’ Hearts from melsbrushes.co.uk --- Kayla, thank you! :D |

--- Those ’70s Comics: 579 Inspired by episode 504 - “Heartbreaker” https://i.postimg.cc/XJc5KDpN/578forbetterforworse.jpg --- Comments: Added more Red and Kitty bonding to this scene. On the show, starting in season 5 with Kitty’s pregnancy/menopause storyline, Red transformed from a curmudgeon who loved his wife with a passion that consumed his soul to a cliche put-upon TV husband who’d rather have sex – or, at least, ogle – any “pretty” woman other than his wife (Stanley Roper and Al Bundy epitomize this cliche). |
