And W.B. would have to help Angie feel more secure about their own relationship so she wouldn't take out her fears on Hyde.

Hyde must've felt super insecure trying to become part of that family. He wouldn't have wanted Angie to feel badly (despite their rivalry in that one episode where Hyde calls in Jackie to do his dirty work for him).

We needed some deeper development during that storyline. Hyde went through the wringer with Edna and Bud, and learning he has a whole other family would really play on his hopes and fears and make him think about his identity. But dealing with all those things in a substantial way might've brought more serious, dramatic elements to T7S than the comedy was built for.

Although a good writer (or three) could've found a way to do it and find a way to mix enough humor into the seriousness, too.

He would. Like, maybe a short spin-off series was needed to accommodate that storyline.

And it would've developed Angie's character without Kelso -- because her character essentially became a tool to create tension between Hyde and Kelso since Jackie was no longer used for that.

Right! That was so annoying. I would have liked to know Angie better beyond that.
