Gibbs is a guy who thinks of himself as smooth with the ladies, but he has an underlying sensitive and goofy side that screws up his game. Tyler's the pretty-boy whose main interest is looking good and feeling good. This stems from some major self-esteem issues, as we discovered at the end of season 2. He also enjoys making fun of his friends and -- well -- anyone. Neal's the insecure, sensitive geek-guy who has the only committed relationship on the show. He's with a woman he's not-so-secretly afraid is too good for him. And Milo ... I got nothin'. He pooped in a shoe? But that doesn't tell me anything about who he is. I can't encapsulate his character in a sentence or two or twelve. Is he compassionate? Is he craven? Does he prefer to be in committed relationships, or did his relationship with Lisa scare him off that? Did his breakup mess his self-esteem? Did that make him desperate? I can keep asking these questions, but I have no answers for any of them. Hyde, though, is easily characterized. He's a guy whose deep compassion for others makes him feel vulnerable and unsafe (thanks to the abuse he suffered as a child), so he protects himself, his true motives, and his feelings with a veneer of deflection, aloofness, and mild hostility. BOOM! as Gibbs might say.
