That '70s Show - Board Recustomization

Hi everyone ,

The Fan Forum Graphics Team is in the process of (re)customizing message boards and now it's your turn!

If you have any picture or color suggestions please post them in this thread. Don't post (hotlink) the pictures, links to them are fine. Make sure that the pictures are of as high quality as possible and that the top of the head of the person in the picture isn't cropped off. We also like to use photoshoot images when possible, preferably individual pictures of each cast member. When suggesting colours please keep in mind that some colors will work better than others. The Team usually tries to avoid really vibrant and dark colours because we have found in the past that they are hard to look at for long periods of time. If you would like some help coming up with colour combinations we recommend checking out the design seeds website.

Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinions for this as you are the ones who will be posting on the board and we hope to make as many people happy with the finished result as possible. It does not matter if you are a board moderator, regular poster, or casual poster here. If you have a suggestion, please share it here with us .

Your suggestions for possible pictures and colors will be taken into serious consideration, but in the interest of seeing every board receive the best customized look possible the final decision concerning how this board will be customized will be made by the members of the Graphics Team. This is because we want to make sure that the selected graphic and colours fit into the overall design scheme that we've established for Fan Forum.

For a full explanation of the message board customization process, see this thread. If you have any questions, please feel free to send Rae or Mel a PM or ask the Team on the message board customization thread.

Please leave this topped until a week or so after the board has been (re)customized.

Note: It usually takes less than two weeks for us to finish making the new banner and the sooner we know what you want, the more we can work on it (though it can take a few months or so to set it up with the new colours on the board), so please let us know your suggestions as soon as possible.

When the Team have made and voted on a winning graphic I will close this thread until the graphic and colors get put up. It will then be re-opened so that you can share your thoughts about it.

Oh that's awesome!

My input is that I like green. So anything green would be great, but ultimately, I'm open to anything as long as it ends up looking pretty.

Are any of the boards done yet? So we can see an example what it'll look like?

Personally, I like the board as it is. It's easy to read posts here. Some of the colors on other boards are too light or too bright, and I get a for-real headache if I linger there too long. The colors actually keep me from posting on certain boards because of the pain issue.

I'd be okay with a new banner if people want one, but I'm fond of ours.

I do like this cast picture (though it's a little dark).

If I can think of any improvements, I'll post 'em. But I very much believe in: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yeah, I took a look at the list in the main thread and it looked like our board was one of the last ones, so I wondered. Unless nothing really changes and it's just about the colours and the picture used in the banner.

The list of boards that are in the main Graphics Team thread are of boards waiting to be re-customized. We don't change the lay-out of the message boards, we change the colours and banners after a while to change it up again and give the posters something new.

Another specific thing I like about our board's current color scheme is that it's not monochromatic. It's not different shades of purple, let's say. It's yellow, green, blue, and pink. The contrast, again, helps with readability. I find the monochromatic boards to be too dark.

Basically, our board is in the Goldilocks zone of color.

I think it matches Jackie's '70s flower pillows.

There are plenty of colour schemes on design seeds that aren't just one shade of colour and there are plenty of boards that aren't either. It just depends on how the winning banner looks.

I'm currently looking through episodes of That '70s Show to see if I can find another color scheme that fits the show like the current one does.

Ok, d'ok. I've been playing around with the colors of this board and looking through various cast pictures. I'll post what I've come up with, and y'all can have at it.

I really like that first group picture you posted Lisa, it's actually always been one of my favorite cast pictures.

I like the scheme for Jackie's tops too.

Well, I like it the way it is too. So...

I also like this picture, sadly it's not the most amazing quality or all too big. But the banner is tiny, so maybe it could be pulled off.

If you want we can keep these types of colours and simply refresh the banner. There will be minor differences but if you would prefer to keep these then that is possible

I also found this which is similar to the colours you have now, however a little nicer on the eyes. Although from your earlier comments it may not work on your eyes. We do not wish to force a change on you which you do not want or will be unhappy with. You have had this customisation for around seven/eight years and we felt that it could use a refreshing. Change is hard, especially when you grow attached to something and get used to seeing it, but it can also be good. But the change does not have to be dramatic, many boards choose to use similar colours to what they currently have

My main concern about the colors changing is my ability to read and write posts without getting a headache. The first three colors of the link you posted seem okay, but there's no real to know until the colors are the board's. And, by then, if they do cause me trouble, it'll be too late since those are the board's new colors.

I'm cool with change when it's an improvement.

I'm just not sure a new color scheme would be. None of the posters have ever complained about what we've got. Is it gorgeous? No.

But I'll take function over beauty any day of the week, and the current color scheme is also tied into That '70s Show. It matches this scene from "Hyde Moves In" (124):

But I'm just one poster. If everyone else who posts here regularly wants a change now that it's being kindly offered, I'll deal.
