Jackie definitely helps while she hurts -- and vice versa. Like when she tried to reassure a depressed Kitty about Eric and Donna having sex.

Jackie: But now that Donna's on the pill, they can just do it and do it and do it!

I think Jackie means well...most of the time, she just isn't always the best at helping.

I wonder why Jackie always feels the need to be insulting (along with being helpful). At her core, she must be very insecure. Why else would she have chosen Kelso -- and stayed with Kelso -- so long after all the warning signs?

I have always thought deep down Jackie was insecure. She showed signs of it sometimes, like when Hyde called Brooke hot.

That's true, and at the "get Hyde a girlfriend" party. She was surrounded by who she thought were pretty girls, and that's why she brought Big Rhonda. She didn't want to be out-prettied at a party. Afterward, she had Kelso reassure her repeatedly about how pretty she is.

Interesting. Yeah, Jackie definitely has a core of insecurity fueling her arrogance.

I have seen people like that in real life actually, they show arrogance, but really they are insecure deep down, I guess that is why I picked it up with Jackie.

Arrogance usually (if not always) hides insecurity. People have hard time understanding the difference between it and confidence. I'd hope with Hyde's help she'd become more confident than arrogant. Like, Donna was generally confident, imo.

I think Hyde could help her with it, if anybody could it would be him. Donna was generally confident which was good.

Donna definitely seemed more self-confident than Jackie. I think Hyde would find a better way to help her with it besides telling her she's pretty all the time.

Yeah, Hyde didn't tell Jackie she was pretty all the time the way Kelso did. He reserved it for when he really meant it. When Kelso said it, it became meaningless because of the amount and the motivation behind it. Hyde's spontaneous, "Your beautiful" and "You're really cute," means so much more. And I think he must have praised her more valuable attributes during their relationship.

Donna sorta praised Jackie in "Celebration Day": But Hyde’s so good for you. Since you started dating him, you’ve completely stopped quoting Nancy Drew.

It was something, it was nice to see Donna give Jackie a compliment.

Donna didn't really get a chance to compliment Jackie a lot -- because Jackie was always so busy complimenting herself.

Good point! It was nice whenever she got the chance though.

Donna comforted Jackie a lot and supported her -- but complimented ... can't really think of one beyond the Nancy Drew comment.
