Fez: Yes. Donna over there [referring to you, Donna] does not need posters to prove who she is. She's confident that she is Donna. ... Maybe you're not really Donna after all.

Donna P.: Of course I'm Donna, you dink!

Kelso: But how can you be Donna when she's Donna?

But what if Donna really wants to effect change? In plenty of high schools it's not just a popularity contest. People actually have platforms and issues they want to tackle, and the student body votes in the person whose interests aligned with theirs. I think in the world of T7S, this is totally possible. There's a fanfic in this idea. Eric and Donna vying for student government president. That could be like a sequel to "Who Wants It More?"

Jackie, of course, would run for treasurer and believe running for student government is only a popularity contest. Her B-story would be the comic relief -- with Fez running against her and ultimately winning.

Ah, another fanfic I won't write. But I like it. And now I have a new post for my T7S tumblr.


I see her either going for it or being on the school paper and trying to hold student government and the school accountable through her journalism. Either possibility works for her character.

Hmm...I don't think Eric would run for student government, unless he was pushed into a corner and coerced based on circumstances. Same thing with actual government, too. He avoids interacting with it unless he absolutely has to.

Donna, on the other hand, is a coin toss in terms of running for student government. It wholly depends on the situation. If there's a pressing issue/pressing issues at hand, she'd run. If there isn't, and it's quite clear that it's just a popularity contest, she wouldn't bother. I don't think so, anyway.

I think Jackie would try to run for class president, because that's the number one position, and she loves being at the tippy top.

Anywho, for Donna in general, I can see her doing both (running for office and writing for the school/newspaper, pushing for change and being a potential whistleblower). But running for office definitely becomes more appealing as she gets older, IMO.

Eric can be very competitive. Once his ego's involved, watch out. I can totally see him running for student government because of some conflict of ideas with Donna, as in "Who Wants It More?" Of course, if he actually became student government president, after the glow of victory wore off, he'd say to himself, "What do I do now?"

He'd definitely do his best, but Hyde, Kelso, and Fez would hear his complaints about being class president during the circle. Maybe he'd end up going to Jackie for help. Donna would be the last person he'd go to because of fearing her reaction (and his ego).


She might run even if it's mostly a popularity contest in an attempt to make the student body aware of -- and care about -- real issues at their school.

It all depends on how Point Place High's student government works. Does each grade of his its own president, vice president, and treasurer, or is it one president, vice president, and treasurer for the whole school? If it's the former, she'd definitely run for president. If it's the latter, she might not since she's a sophomore / junior (depending on the year of the show).

Just having my first name be the name of a character mentioned on T7S one time is a little weird. So our Donna sharing a first name with a main character ...

Sam, quite a few U.S. TV show characters have your name. Sam the Butcher from The Brady Bunch is one (yes, an old show) and Sam from Quantum Leap (another old show). Sam from Cheers (okay, another older show). Sam from Battlestar Galactica (2004). Sam from My Sister Sam (different gender, though ). And so on.

Last post, I was thinking of two of the four Donnas on that list.

This conversation made me think of a funny-sad scenario for Eric in season 4. His friends try to set him up on a date a few months after he and Donna broke up. He's not having any of it, saying, "I only want Donna. Donna's the only girl for me."

So the guys find a bunch of girls named Donna and throw a get-Eric-a-date party. When Eric discovers all the girls are named Donna, he freaks out.

Fez: You said you only wanted Donna. Well, now you've got two dozen of them!
