I am also wondering. If she was abused as child, then she probably thought that everybody had better childhood and family than she did (and probably everyone in her surrounding had indeed).

If not (which was an S5 premise), then I am not so sure.

I think maybe she did. It sounds like even if they did not have her whole story mapped out in season five, she did not have the greatest family life and the Walsh family had a great family dynamic. so I am sure on some level she did envy Brenda.

Yeah, in any case to her probably everything seemed better than her family. I also do not remember if details of the family situation were mentioned in S5, but her father's suicide is enough of the indicator there were problems.

I don’t think the other details were mentioned yet in season five, but the suicide of her dad alone would be enough to know things were not great at home.
