Yes please add me

Matt was so boring and bland.

 Um ... how do you know when you have no appreciation for Matt? When you find yourself feeling an inkling of disappointment/confusion as you think, for two seconds, that this is his first appreciation thread.

Anyway, I promise I didn't dislike him just cause he interrupted Dy/K's reunion for two years. Matt's right up there with several later day characters that I just couldn't take seriously for the life of me. But when I get right down to it, it's the fact that he had no sense of humor that gets me the most. Even more than the appalling self-righteousness.

7. Because he was humorless.

Add me to the list too, please.

Yep he and Noah weren't that different!

I added you guys :D

Oops. You put 'humorous' instead of 'humorless'.

Anyone remember the time he defended a bad stand-up comic and started "cracking" some jokes of his own? One of the most awkward TV viewer moments I've ever had.

EDIT: And can you put my name as one word, like it's written?

KellAndSteve4Ever 12-19-2007 07:10 PM

I thinkI've seen that.

Thank you for this thread! Please add me!

Not being Brandon is about the best thing one can say about this plot device. I cannot even bring myself to call him a character.

I don't know why they were so into this thing of bringing in faux versions of departed characters.

The success of Janet should have showed them how much better it was to just have an actual new character. Not a faux or lite or replacement version of anybody, but a whole different individual.

As usual, I digress. Thank you again for providing this venue where we can groan together every time we join playground in remembering that unspeakable bad comedy courtroom scene.

Oh it's an Anti-Thread?
Okay... mmmh... I was a little confused *lol*

You can add me too!!

I don't like the "He's no Brandon" reason because, why the hell should he be a Brandon? He's Matt - but I did not really like him.

For me he's a poor liar and nothing more.

goodbreakingbad 12-20-2007 12:04 PM

Could you add me please? Matt was okay, but as the title suggests he was definitely NO Brandon!

I was lurking in this thread and just wanted to say that by this title I don't think the meaning was that he must have been like Brandon but it was more because it seemed like the writers kinda wanted that, to make of Matt a "new Brandon", I don't know how to explain it, but I also felt like since he was there to kinda replace him then he was suppose to have the same kind of personality and stuff like that, which was something stupid to do :P (Like when Valerie came into the show after Shannen left and some people compared her to Brenda, although I didn't really see the similarities there, but everyone didn't have the same way to see Brenda..)
Anyway, if they wanted to have another guy on the show they should just have bring someone with a whole new look and personality and more interesting than Matt :P (And that new guy didn't need to date Kelly just after BK broke up and that Brandon left either)

You just did. I mean, he came in 1 episode before Brandon leaves and shows up at the exact moment of Brandon's initial trip. Gina comes in during the same episode Valerie exits. It's insulting to our intelligence. Plus, Brandon had an excellent sense of humor (as per my anti-M point above). And Matt was spiteful and dishonest to save face. Brandon didn't share these qualities either, but I still felt they were -- very badly -- trying to replace him.

Black mamba 12-20-2007 03:34 PM

^Yeah, they didn't seem to be the same to me but we could feel that, that's what they wanted to do with Matt and like you mentioned they also did it pretty clearly with Val/Gina lol
I also thought about Dylan when they got Noah on the show and we learned that he was rich and have a personality with that kind of "dark" past and stuff and then those stuff with alcohol.. of course he was nothing like Dylan to me but I was still glad they didn't bring Noah before on the show just after Dylan left because that would have been the same that what we said about Matt/Brandon, Val/Gina :P
Anyway, to be back to Matt, I don't know how they could have thought he could replace Brandon that way lol Especially in Kelly's heart, may be that's why they bring Dylan back, something more interesting was missing in the show, I mean the character of Matt didn't really bring anything in the show for me !

(Btw, just wanted to say, even if nobody care lol, I don't usually really like to participated to anti-thread but well, those stuff where interesting to talk about ;) )

soulmatejunkee 12-23-2007 02:19 AM

Matt was more self-righteous than Brandon ever was. He lied to Kelly so often and then blame her for things, she did not have done. I hate that. He always lied to her. Starts with a wife, get over with the no-money-problem, and ends up with the so called cheating-thing! What the hell is that? It's a big lying but not a good relationship!!
