Exactly. Val had as much reason (if not more) to fall for that stuff as Kelly did. Her father committed suicide and her whole life faced upheaval in the aftermath. The fact that she resisted is very impressive. I don't think it proves that Kelly is weak but I do think it shows that the creepy Finley guy was telling Kelly things that she wanted to hear at the time... Highlighting her insecurities and making her feel that she had a Goddess complex that somehow made her responsible for what happened to Allison.

Well, yes. Kelly's "instincts" did not work when people were flattering her. They could easily manipulate her into anything.

Val was an easy material for men who emotionally abused and manipulated her, but not for these con artists and others.

That is so true. Val could spot a con artist easily and was not as easily manipulated.
